beyond question during the fire on
Monday. We hope that our City

place to get bargains every shopping

? . this store has been crowded with peot

a glimpse of the many new things to j
v -be seen. Mr. Mimnaugh is always j
looking ont for the interest of his
trade and suffice it to say that he has
the goods and the prices are right.
Checking: Op Taz Books.
Treasurer Shealy and Auditor Dent
are now checking op the tax books
. for the year just closed. There ap1
pears but few errors in a list of over
9,000 entries, which shows the
efficiency of these two officials.
- There will be, perhaps, fewer delin\
~ qnents than in previous years. The
legislature did the right thing when
s they raised the salaries of the treasurer
and auditor, for their work is im\
mense.
At Tapp's.
The James L. Tapp Company, of
Columbia, are displaying one of the
> - most beautiful stocks of spring merchandise
to be found in any city in
the south. The millinery department
at this big store is the centre of at,
traction just now under the supervision
of Miss Steadman, who is a
milliner of the highest art, but it goes
, without saying that Tapp can please
the most fastidious in new spring
goods of every description. When
you buy your goods at Tapp's you
have the assurance of knowing that
they are up-to-the-minute in style.
Visit this store when in the city.

- Haadsoae Bouquet of Roses.
The Dispatch is indebted to Miss
Annie Taylor, . the accomplished
^ ' ? daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Tavr\

plucked from her beautiful flower
garden. Miss Taylor has been very
ill for the past several days, but on
yesterday was able to go out in the
^ yard and mingle among the lovely
flowers of wluch she is peculiarly
i ; fond.

Closing Exercises of ETewburg
School.
Friday afternoon, March the 27th,
was an enjoyable time for the students
of Newburg school.
The exercise commenced prompt at
2 o'clock and consisted of songs, dialogues
and recitations, all of which
were well rendered, and showed
the many pains "the teacher," Miss
Eula Eptir.g, had taken in training
them. The school room was beautifully
decorated with evergreens and
flowers of all colors, which made the
scene of the occasion grand.
