Congressman Lever Commanded
to "Wed.
Washington, Jan. 22?Far beitfrom
The State bureau to divulge the secret9
wrapt up in it, but it is out now, and
a subject of wide discussion and therefore
legitimateand iuperative news.
Invitations are about to be out for
Representative Lever'9 marriage.
The bride hasn't been selected yet,
though, unless it has been done very
recently and kept a deep dead* sure
enough secret. Here is how it is:
Friends of Lever in the house of
representatives are preparing to issue
the invitations for his marriage,
which they have scheduled to take
place on April 1 - next. The Dutch
Fork statesman has indicated his inability
to select a bride by that time
and Speaker Cannon, therefore, will
be called upon to make the choice in
accordance with a programme arranged
on April 1, 1906. The invitations
when issued will have a blank line
for the Insertion of the lady's name.
Lever had forgotten about notice
served upon him by his colleagues
t.Hnf. Ho must; o-et, married within two I
year9. His attention was called to it
today by^everal congressmenwho asked
him if he would be ready. He took
the entire matter as a joke, but was
informed that' business was meant
and he would be held to the agreement.
Fearing that he might not
like Speaker Cannon's selection Lever
is now keeping his weather eye open
for a likely mate, and it i9 not impossible
that he may yet surprise his
colleagues.

Senator B. B. Tillman
On Race Question. .
Senator B. R. Tillman, in an address
before the general assembly
on Thursday night, advocated the repeal
of the fifteenth amendment and
the encouragement of desirable Immigrants
as a means to off set, as he
said, inevitable negro domination in
the states in which blacks predominate.
He said that with the regular educational
fund of the several states,
coupled with that of Northern philanthropists,
the negro would soon be 1 <
able to comply with the constitutional

He believed, from hand primaries c
in the North and West, that those ^
sections would help the South to re- ! '
peal the fifteenth amendment. r

Sow to Promote & Child's Appetite.
To promote a chiles appetite give
it plenty of outdoor exercise. Make
its habits regular and give it nothing
but plain, wholesome food. Rich
cakes, pickles, condiments and dishes
are not fit for children, and indulgence
in them will spoil the appetite for
plainly cooked food. A warm bath
with an ounce of sea salt is almost as
restful as a nap. Let the child paddle
in the water until it cools and dry
with a rough towel. In case of whooping
cough a milk diet often is necessary.
Two or three pints may be taken
daily, but not much at a time should
be given. Vomiting often is a serious
complication in this disease, but however
unwillibg a child may be to take
food he must be made to do so in or- {
dertokeep up his strength. If the !
vomiting be severe solids are better !
than food in a liquid form. The teeth
should be cleaned all over. Cleansing
the mouth should be practiced after i
every meal, and the child will havel
strong teeth. |
