Obituary.
I , Myria,
daughter of Perry and Nina
Jurkett, was born August 23, 1904,
m&departed this life December 24,
.907, making her stay here on earth
hree years, four months and one day.
Little Myria was ill only a few days
md all-that the skilled physician,
and neighbors and friends could do
ras all in vain. The Angel of heaven
lecended and bore our loved one
iway, where there is no sickness,
>ain or death. She was laid to rest
n the Mt. Ebal cemetery to await
he resurrection.
She is happy now forever,
All her sufferings are o'er;
Ind with smiling face she's waiting,
For the dear one's on that shore.

Obituary.
H. C. Rucker, Sr., passed away at;
his home on Sandy Run on the morning
of January 4th, having reached 1
the advanced age of 82 years. His
remains were laid to rest by the side
of his wife in the old Culler burying
ground, the funeral services being
conducted by Rev. R. E. Livingston, I
pastor o^Beaulah Methodist church,(of
which the deceased was a member.
He was a good citizen, good neighbor
and kind friend, and will be missed
in the community in which he resided.
He leaves 10 children to mourn their
dear father's death, 5 girls and 5 boys

Col. S. M. Ward, of Georgetown
recently elected to command the
Third regiment as successor to Col.
Henry Schachte, resigned, stood his
examination before' a special board
consisting of Gen. Wilie Jon^s, Col.
Henry T. Thompson and Col. Ohas.
Newnham. The examination was sat
isfactory and the officer will be issued
his commission in a few days. Gen.
Boyd will now order an election for
the position of lieutenant colonel, vacated
by Col. Ward's promotion.
Mr. O. B. Martin, the State Super- =
intendent of Education, has sent to
each county superintendent of education
a letter stating that the report
issued from his office at the close of
1908 will be the 40th and for this reason
he wishes to prepare a brief history
of the public schools of the State.
He therefore urges each county to
send in a brief report as soon! as possible
after the close of the school

is at last in jail, having been arrested
