ITews Around Gaston.
To the Editor of The Dispatch:
On the afternoon of Christmas day
+.V?o Hpath an^el visited the home of
Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Goodwin and
claimed for his victim little Edgar.
He was only five years old, but he
was too pure for this world and God
took him to live with Him. All that
the skilled physician, Dr. L. C.
Brooker, and loving parents could, do
was done, but without avail. The remains
of little Edgar were laid to
rest in the cemetary at Sandy Run
Baptist church, the funeral services
being conducted by Rev. Sherry.
Mr. James A. Pound, formerly cf
this place but now of Talco, Ala.,
spent the Yuletide with his parents,
Mr and Mrs. Jas. H. Pound. He was
accompanied by his beautiful young
bride.
The Sand Mountain schcfol, wider
the management of Miss Mincy Pound,
is progressing nicely.
Messrs. Daniel, Lemuel and Golden
Sigh tier, of Andalusia, Ala., are visiting
their parents.
The Baptist Union met with Sandy
iRun church last Sunday. But few
churches were represented.
Mrs. C. S. Goodwin and children
are visiting Mrs. Goodwin's mother,
Mrs. B. A. Rowell, at Bamberg. %
' Mr. D. E. Hammond, of Gilbert,
spent Saturday night with the family
of Mr. J. H. Pound.

'Christmas Tree at Black Creek.
To the Editor of The Dispatch:
It was our privilege , to be present

on Christmas day, to attend the Sunday

cises of the pupil? during the day
were fine?and showed what could be
done by the help of God.
Within the chancel stood a cedar
tree and from its branches hung many
beautiful gifts which made fclad the
hearts of those who received them.
The congregation was large and very
orderly. Thus we have past another
milestone of the Christian race to the
world'to come, ^and may it be said,
One army of the living God
To Thy command we bow;
Part of the host have crossed the flood
And part are crossing now.

A hprse belonging to Wilbur Gauntt,

mad dog several days ago. It developed
a genuine case of hydrophobia
on Mopday, trying to bite everything
within sight, and exhibiting
every symptom of rabies. It was killed
on Wednesday as a matter of $>re,caution
and to get it out of its misery,
for there was no chance of its ever

The Pure Food Law.
Secretary Wilson says, "One of th<
objects of the law is to inform the con
