Eillcd in Quarry Esplosion.
New York, Dec. 19.?Three men
were instantly killed and several others
seriously injured today by the
premature bla9t of an enormous
charge of dynamite in the quarry of
the Rockland Lake Trap Rock company,
between Nyack and Hayer3traw.
Thomas Denata, who had charge of
the blasting, had filled eight large
boles in the rock with heavy charges
cf dynamite aud had strung electric
wires from the charges to a hand battery
which he had at the top of the
quarry. Then the signal was given
for all the men at work bo leave the
quarry.
It was while the men were leaving
the place that one of them tripped
5ver the electric wire. This pulled the

if dynamite and resulted in a terrific
explosion. Bits of rocks were hurled
i great distance and three men who
were nearest the shot were killed instantly.

A piece of rock struck Denata and
iroke his collor bone and other pieces
penetrated his back. He was sent to
he hospital in a serious conditiop.

sixty-six years old. This was his first
