Attorney General to Collect On Stolen Bonds. The attorney general has notified former State Treasurers Bates and Timmerman that he looks to them for immediate payment of the amounts for which they are liable on the bonds purloined by Bond Clerk Zimmerman , during their administrations. The t amount for which Dr. Bates is liable is $1,000, with $517.50 accrued inter terest. That assessed against Dr. rr I Timmerman is $10,000 with $4,218.75 / I ortAwio/1 interpaf,. t.hft incnmbent treas 1 urer, is liable for $1,000, with $292.55 accrued 2nterest, but has signed his i intention of paying up immediately, without legal process. Each treasurer is under a bond of $90,000, which holds good for twenty years.?The Daily Record Oct. 14. , From a letter received by Attorney General Lyon from Dr. W. H. Tim merman, former State treasurer, it is ' evident that the latter will at once contest any claims on his bond on accpunt of the shortage in his office, due to the illegal acts of a clerk. Dr. Timmerman states that he does not con' aider himself morally or legally bound to pay the shortage charged up to his administration which is about $14,000, and that he will leave it to the court t to settle. Saluda ' county I nave not rorgotten jjexington, my home county, and its valua' ble journal. Crops, especially corn, is good in this section. Cotton is somewhat short. We believe that the majority of farmers are holding most of their cotton for 15 cents. Derrick's Drug Store. Obituary. W. Brooks Lindler departed this i mortal life at his home near Lexinging, S. C.. October 8, 1907, aged forty years, nine months and twelve days. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter's (Piney Woods) E. L. church, and lived and died in this faith. . His wife, who was Miss Minnie Nichols, preceeded him to the spirit world. He leaves to^ mourn his departure four) children, two brothers and a host of friends, t- His body was laid to rest with christian burial^in the family cemetery near Chapin, S.
