Miss Minnie Johnson is at home again after several months stay in Savannah, Ga., and River Junction, Fla. Mrs. "VV. H. Rogers, of Savannah, and Mr. W. H. Johnson, of Scotia, have been here at the bedside of their mother, Mrs. W. L. K. Johnson, who has been very ill. We are glad to say fV> o f. Mr. Dyches, of Orangeburg, with her little grand daughter, is visiting near here. * Mrs. Mattie Adams, of Atlanta, visited relatives here a week ago. Mrs. Wyman, of Florida, was the guest of Mrs. W. H. F. Raatlast week. Mr. Dannie Cartin, who has been sick with typhoid fever for sometime, is improving. Mr. Willie Courtney has gone to Edgefield where he will attend school at the S. C. C. I. Mr. C. L. Rast and Mr. J. W. Lybrand were in the capital city on business Monday. Rev. A. McA. PIttman, financial agent for Orangeburg Collegiate, Institute, filled the Baptist pulpit here Sunday morning. Mr. T. L. Martin has opened a grocery store in Columbia and will run that in connection with his business here. The cotton crop around Swansea is very fine, but the farmers are finding that obtaining labor to gather it is quite an item. Tip. Sept. 30, 1907. If the. If 1 the County Commissioners are authorized to build roads and bridges, why are not the two boards lawfully empowered to by these bridges ir they are located just where they are most needed. The amount to be paid by each county and when to be paid by each county and when to be paid could be arranged ,in the way most acceptable to each. I live about as far as anybody in the county from the bridges, but 1 am willing to be taxed to buy them if Richland or Columbia will bear the'r ; equitable share. Columbia would receive great benefit from the move and the people of Lexington county would accept it as an act of friendship, as well as an appreciation of , their custom. We are glad to state that Mr. M. M. Arant, after being confined to his bed with fever about four weeks, under the skillful treatment of Dr. J. G.
