Prof. John W. Ballentine will leave
in a few days for Little Mountain,
where he will again have charge of
the school of that town.
The members of the Farmer's Union
in this section have made arrangements
to ffeore their cotton in the
Leesville warehouse and hold it for
the.Union price, fifteen cents. The
Fanners' Union is making a great
fight against the cotton gamblers and
if they will hold to their cotton it will
be only a matter of time until they
will get their price for their cotton.
The cotton mill men will admit that
they are making cloth out of fifteen
cent cotton ana that they were expecting
to pay that price for their
cotton, but if the farmers are willing
to sell them the cotton at from eleven
to twelve cents and-loose from three
to four cents, on their cotton, why of
course, they will buy it at that price.
Every farmer should join the Farmers'
Union and get in line and demand
fifteen cents for their cotton. It is
worth it and if the farnier would demand
it he would get it. Lloyd.

Cost of Thaw Trial.
New York, Oct. 2.?Ten of District
Attorney Jerome's alienists in the
trial of . Harry K. Thaw, it is announced
today, have rendered bills for
their services. The total of these
bills is slightly in excess of $23,000.
The total cost of the Thaw trial to
the city cannot be told yet, as the
bills are not all in.
A Voted Out Dispensary./
The dispensary in Camden sold
nearly one thousand dollars worth of
whiskey on last Saturday, so we were
told?the proceeds of about eighteen
bales of cotton. And the greater
amount of this doubtless to people
who cannot afford it. No wonaer so

Sam Brooks, a negro, under cross examination
today, said:
"I have shot "and probably killed 14
men in my time." He said that a
majority of the killings occurred in
the Kentucky mountains and during
a labor strike in Chicago * Edwards
is known as a Kentucky feudist.

sold here recently a bale of long staple
cotton at 20 cents. The bale weighed
477 pounds for which he received
$95.40. For the seed it contained he
realized $12, so that the one bale
