Mobile, Ala., Sept. 26.?A ferry boat jrossing the Tombigbee river at the *overnmeat work9 at McGrew's shoals lear Jackson, Ala., late today was capsized, drowning one white boy ind 13 negroes. The boy was Leslie Vernille, 16 years old, residing in Daksdale, a suburb of this city. The scene of the accident has long seen regarded as a very dangerous slace bv navierators of the river on account of the rapid and treacherous current and the rocky shoals there. Negro Demands Justice. Savannah, Sept. 26.?John Parker, aolored, appeared here today demanding justice upon a Wayne county mob that, he alleges, whipped and shot him Monday night suspecting him of having knowledge or of complicity in the two assaults made recently upon Mrs. Marvin Overstreet. The United States commissioners referred Parker to the United States district attorney.
