paid fitting trioute today to the mem- j
ory of martyred President McKinley
in dedicating, by Governor Hughes, a I
white marble obelisk, erected by the ^
state at a cost of nearly $500,000. f
The monument perpetuates the 1
memory of Ohio's great son, who met
death here while attending the Pan- p
American exposition. Flags of two '
countries, England and America, were
entwined among the decorations j
about the city, ^id tWo Canadian reg- c
iments, marching in parade, lent in- 1
ternational flavor to today's observ- J
ancc. {
One of the prettiest spectacle of the t
rtn.tr txraa the. release from the base of
the monument an hour before the exercises
? began of 2,500 pure white r
pigeons, emblematic of the doctrine
of peace McKinley always publicly <
advocated. j
If the Baby is Cutting Teeth, 1
Be sure and use that old and well tried j
I remedy, Mrs. Winslow's Soothing ?
Syrup, for children teething. It sooth- i
cs the child, softens the gums, allays j
all pain, cures wind colic and is the ]
best remedy for diarrhoea. Twenty j

the Food and Drug act, June 30,
1906. Serial number 1908.

Fined for Huggging.
"Thou shalt not kiss or hug on the
street'' is the latest commandment
laid down by the authorities of Pittsburg,
Pa., and it is being enforced.
Paul Carr, a young man of Mellen
street, was fined $10 and costs for hug- 1
ging his girl on the street Wednesday J
night. i
He was also told by Magistrate <
Walker that he would be sent to jail
if it occurred again. "Do your kiss- !
ing and squeezing at home, not on
the street," said the court to the
downcast lad. N
This order follows another issued in 1
Allegheny some time ago by Mayor
Kirsshler to the effect that there 1
should be no more love-making in the :
city parks, and instructing the proper (
authorities to place electric lights to
| shine in all dark corners. 1
