Lexington Wins.
The Lexington second nine defeated

Saturday afternoon by a score of 8 to
7. They will play again at Irene
? Saturday afternoon.

Mr. John M. Jumper, who lives

length. T. L. W.

CKnaery Vow Running.
The Lexington ginnery is now running
on full time. The farmers are
bringing their cotton in and it taxes
the full capacity of the machinery,
which is up-to-date in every particular.
The ginnery turns out a bale
about every twenty minutes, or three
bale9 an hour. This is filling a long
felt want here, and the proper thing
for our citizens to do now is to establish
a cotton seed oil mill. There is
plenty of local capital to start the enterprise
without outside aid. However,
it would not take long to get
others interested, for there is nothing
that pays a larger dividend to stockholders
than a well-managed plant of
this kind.
At no distant day e expect to see
the proper consideration of our citizens.
Nothing helps to build a town
like enterprises.
ftf Miss Skull.
Miss Amanda Shall, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Shull, died at the
home of her parents about four miles
from Lexington, yesterday- at 12
o'clock, after a brief illness of typhoid
fever. She will be buried today at 2
p. m., at the old Adam Shull burying
ground.
Miss Shull was an extremely bright
and attractive young woman and her
death has cast a gloom over the entire
community in which she lived.
Another daughter, Miss Barbara, is
quite sick with the same fever, which
makes the situation peculiarly sad.
Mr. and Mrs. Shull have the sympathy
of their man} friends in this their
trying hoar of bereavement.
Al. Ok Fields' Minstrels.
The famous Al. G. Fields' Minstrels
will appear at the Columbia Theatre
on the night oi the 18th.. This show
is one of the best in the United States
and embraces all the pleasing features
of a fine entertainment.
Lovers of good music and song, and
minstrelcy of a high character, will
have an opportunity on the above
date to laugh and grow fat. The performance
will satisfy the most fanciful
theatre goers, as the Fields aggregation
never fails to draw a large audience.
Numbers of Lexingtonian's
will no doubt embrace this opportunity
next Wednesday night.
The Fields company will be one of
the first of a series of entertainments,
which Manager Brown has secured
for the coming theatrical season. Mr.
Brown, who has just returned from
New York, knows what the people of
Columbia want along this line, consequently
he has only booked highclass
companies.
2T. A. Young. *
The firm of N. A. Young, Columbia,
has a full line of new fall goods ready
for your inspection, as will be seen by
reference to the advertising columns
of this issue.. This firm is too favorably
known to the people of this
county to need any commendation
from us. All we ask is that you give
N. A. Young a call while in Columbia.

Sot. Croak Coming.

Va., has accepted the call of the
Lexington pastorate and will arrive
here about October 15th, to take
charge of the work. Rev. Cronk is
welllmown throughout the country,
having had charge of the Lutheran
Orphanage at One time. All will welcome
Rev. Cronk and family to Lexington.
