The Joint Council of the Lexington * charge, embracing Providence, St. John's, Nazareth and Pisgah met in Roof's Hall, Saturday and extended a call to Rev. B. W.* Cronk, of Pembroke, Va. Constable Geo. W. Asbill, of Lees| ville, committed to jail Monday, two yonng white boys, aged 14 and 16, respectively, npon * the charge of house-breaMng. They gave their names as Norman Riley, of Alabama City, Ala., and Charley Driggers, of Columbus, Ga. It is alleged that they entered the house of Mr. Anderson Sligh, near Summit, last Saturdayana stole a shot gun, razor, etc. They claim that they have been working in different cofcton mills over the country, their last place being at Batesburg. Their relatives in Geor- i gia have been notified, and it is probable that some efforts will be made to have the boys released. Little Dorothy tfeetze. Little Dorothy, the three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Meetze, of Leesville, died last Saturday afternoon from menengitis, after a very brief illness. Her death has cast a double gloom over the home of her parents, in that only a little less than a year ago they lost their little son, "Billy." The remains of the sweet little girl were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery at Leesville on Sunday afternoon beside her little brother. An aggregation of Lexington fox hunters nave just returned from St. Matthews, where they had the finest | sport of their lives. The St. Matthews correspondent of The News and Courier, under date of August 29th, says: "Messrs. J. H. Hiller, George Langford, Arthur, Heber and AllieDreher, noted sportmsmen and fox hunters, of Lexington, spent last week in this section with their splendid pack of Triggs and Bywater dogs. They caught ten grays and missed only one chase. It is the universal verdict that they are the fleetest and truest hounds that ever gave cry in this neck of the woods."
