And so it was Saturday, they all came, and in, spite of the heavy rain about noon, the dinner was enjoyed. Later in the afternoon it cleared off and the young people danced until late in the evening. Successful Operation. Miss Florrie Harm an returned Sunday from the Columbia hospitol where underwent a successful operation about two weeks ago for appendicitis. She was delighted with the treatment she received from the surgeons and nurses at this institution, and speaks in highest terms of the hospital generally. Many people from all sections of Lexington county have been treated at the Colombia hospital and all have v a great admiration for the place. Surely, it is a great place for the sick, * especially those who have to undergo surgical operations. Card of Thanks. The experience is sad but we are so thankful that we are in the midst of so many friends who help us bear np under" this awful weight. The Commission on the Calhoun county matter were here Monday, but owing to the fact that work was all premature in as much as the law spceificallay says that the return of the surveyors must be filed with the Commission prior to ascertaining the amount of taxable property. The surveyors are now working on the lines and as soon as they file their report the Commission will meet in Orangeburg. Wessiager Notes. She died Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock, and was buried at St. Thomas' church Monday afternoon. There was quite a heavy storm at Little Mountain last Friday which blew down Rev. J. C. Wessinger's barn and moved his new dwelling. Mr. J. S. Wessinger, of Chapin, is having a new coat of paint put on his store-house. We are sorry to hear that Mr. Frank Derrick, the son of Mr. Ben Derrick, is now at the Columbia hospital. We hope for him a speedy recovery. The pea crop in this section is fine. Rev. B. D. Wessinger delivered a most excellent sermon at St. Peter's (Pineywood) church, Sunday Aug. 1. W. Chapin, S. C., R. F. D. 1. lb*. B. W. Prick Scad. Chapin, Aug. 13.?On last Sunday, while surrounded by her children and husband, the soul of the faithful wife of Capt R. W. Frick took its departure. Only last Friday morning there were indications of serious illness. Blood poison set in, caused by an abcess in the head. On Monday at 11 a. m., the remains were placed in the hearse and quietly transported to S4" Thomas chnrch, followed by a long procession of relatives and friends. There in the presence of a large concourse of people the funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Messrs. Enoch Hite and E. J. Sox. Ridgell, of Batesburg, J was here attending court this week. Dr. Ridgell is one of the best men of that growing little city and is prominentia all chnrch, social and business affairs. While here he called in to see us and The Dispatch will hereafter be a welcome visitor to his attractive and beautiful home. Mr. E. B. Meetze, an old Lexington boy in the employment of the government, has finished the big government pier at the Jamestown exposition and has returned to Washington.
