Obituary.
Dora Porth died June 24, 1907, aged
80 years, 2 months and 2 days.
The subject of this notice was married
to Martin Porth in the year 1858.
To this union was given two sons and
two daughters. She leaves an aged
husband, two sons and seven grandchildren
to mourn her departure.
She was baptized and confirmed a

native land, Hanover, Germany, and
alter moving to America, her adopted
home, she became a member of St.
Peter's (Meetze's) E. L. church, Lexington
county, S. C., and was true
and faithful to life's end, and now her
remains rest in the yard of the above
named church, to await the resurrection
of the just. J. A. C. .

Blown Up By Whiskey Barrel.
Savannah, Ga., July 16.?Mr. Jos.
McGillicudy and his son, John, are
today recovering from the effects of
rwnliar accident Thev were hlowff
up yesterday afternoon by the explosion
of a whiskey barrel. The elder
^fcGilliendy buys empty barrels and
resells them. He acquired an empty
whiskey barrel and his son applied a
match to the burg hole to see what
was inside.
There was a terrific explosion and
father and son went several feet into
the air. The barrel was blown1 to
pieces. Luckily no one was seriously,
hurt.

On Sherman's Trail.
Atlanta, Ga., July 14.?The party of
United States army officers wlio have
been following the trail which Gen.
Sherman took to Atlanta arrived here
today and spent a few hours inspecting
the battlefields around Atlanta,

White Kale Infant Deserted.
Greenville, July 15.?The new-born
white male infant found Sunday
morning on the doorstep of Mary
Gaillaird, a negro woman living on
McBee avenue of this city, has been
given into the hands of the officers
of the Lutheran Industrial school,
just outside the city. This was the
action taken by County Supervisor
Goodwin, in his official capacity today.
Several of the best families of
the city stated their willingness to
take charge of the deserted child.
The police have no club as to the
parent of the infant nor will the negro
woman hint that she knows anything
of the matter.?State 16th.
Eleven persons were injured in a
wreck on the Southern road at Jamestown,
N. C., near Greensboro, last
week.
