I The Lexington Dispatch. Wednesday. June 19,1907. Tribute of Rospoct. Whereas, in His infinite wisdom, God has removed from our midst our beloved friend and sister, Mrs. Leila A. Knotts, be it resolved, First. That we; the members of the Woman's Missionary Society of the Swansea Baptist church, realize that in the death of Mrs. Knotts our community has lost a true and loving Christian character, that our society has lost an ardent and generous mission spirit, and that one of our homes has been bereft of its strongest stay, a I most devoted wife, mother and sister. J Second. That we endeavor to emulate her example, recognizing her many Christian virtues, her faithful performance of the duties of her life, her fortitude in suffering and sorrow, and the supreme faith in God and trust in Jesus which blessed her life and glorified her death. Third. That we extend to her bereaved family our tenderest sympathy and bow with them in humble submission to the will of our Father who doeth all things well. Fourth. That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the Baptist Courier and to The Lexington Dispatch for publication and that a copy be forwarded to the family and that they also be inserted in the record book of our society., JY1IOO MISS CLARA JOHNSON, MRS. J. R. LANGFORD, Committee. Swansea, June 10. Every Man His Own Doctor. The average man cannot afford to employ a physician for every slight ailment or injury that may occur in his family, nor can he afford to neglect them, as so slight an injury as the scratch of a pin has been known to cause the loss of a limb. Hence every man must from necessity be his own doctor for this class of ailments. Success often depends upon prompt treatment, which can only be had when suitable medicines are kept at hand. Chamberlain's Remedies have been in the market for many years and enjoy a good reputation. Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy for bowel complaints. Chamberlain's Cough Remedy for coughs, colds, croup and whooping cough. Chamberlain's Pain Balm (an antiseptic liniment) for cuts, bruises, burns, Rurains. swellings, lame back and rheu matic pains. Chamberlain's Stomaqli and Liver Tablets for constipation, biliousness and stomach troubles. , Chamberlain's Salve for diseases of the skin. One bottle of each of these five preparations costs but $1.25. For sale by the KanfmaTUi Drag Co. \_ Preferred the Baby's Veice. A New York scientist, the father of a large and growing family, has his troubles. One evening his youngest was holding forth in her best style. The mother could do nothing with the child, so the man of science went to the rescue. "I think I can quiet little Flora," he said. "There's no use humming to her in that silly way. What she wants is real music. The fact that I used to sing in the glee club at Yale, and sang well, too, may make a difference." Accordingly, the professor took the child, and striding up and down the room, sang in his best manner. He had not finished the second verse of his song, when a ring was heard. The door was opened, and there stood a girl of 14, and said: "I'm one of the family that's just mAiTivl imfa +V?a flof nflvf ti -rrnvma mv/v^u luuv cxxv xxc*>v juvak m>j There's a sicik person with us, and he says, if it is all the same to you, would you mind letting the baby cry instead of singing to it?"?Success. Arthur Herkimer, the Missouri historian, told at a dinner in St. Louis a story about the famous governor, Clairborne F. Jackson. "Jackson," he said, "married, one after another, five sisters. Tb,e thing is incredible, but it is a fact. "When for the fifth time Clairborne Jackson broached a marital proposition to his father-in-law the old man was eighty and quite deaf. This is the conversation that ensued: "I want Lizzie.' B"Hey?' "I want you to give me Elizabeth.' "Oh, you want me to give you Elizabeth, do you? What for? "For my wife.' "For your wife?' 4 'I?want?to?marry?Lizzie.' "Oh, yes, I hear you. You needn't rouse the neighborhood.' "Well do you consent?' "Yes, I consent,' said the old man.. He shook his head and added slowly: 4'Yes, you can have her. You've got 'em all now, my boy. But for goodness sake if anything happens to that poor misguided girl, don't come back here and ask me for the old woman."?Washington Star. Remarkable Rescue. That truth is stranger than fiction, has once more been demonstrated in the little town of Fedora, Tann., the residence of C. Y. Pepper. He writes: "I was in bed, entirely disabled witn hemorrhages of the lungs and throat. Doctors failed to help me, and all hope had fled when I began taking Dr. King's New Discovery. Then instant relief came. The coughing soon ceased; the bleeding diminished rapidly, and in three weeks I was able to go to work."
