Elias Amick, an account of *' -whose death appears elsewhere, died on Tuesday, the 14th of May, and was buried on Wednesday. * ? Marriage. Mr. W. S. Craps and Miss Addie Mitchell were quietly married at the Lutheran parsonage Sunday after^ noon. Only the relatives and a few friends were present to witness the ^ceremony. All old soldiers, and other citizens who desire to join them on the trip to the Richmond reunion, on May 30th to June 3rd, will please send their ^ 4% names to Col. M. D. Among the graduates we notice the name of Master Samuel Goode Thompson, who is indeed a bright young man and a jt- son of Dr. S. G. Thompson, of Abbeville. 1 Commencement Exercises. . There will be a small admission fee charged at night to the exercises of the Palmetto Collegiate Institute in Roof's Hall, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Elias Amick, one of the best known citizens of the Fork, died on May the 13th, and was buried on the 14th. In the death of this man Lexington ^ county loses one of her best citizens. ; N He was a devoted father, a true husband, faithful soldier, a good neighbor and kind friend. A The family has the sincerest sympathy of The Dispatch in this, their j hour of sore affliction. '* % Za Memoriam. Gloom rests over our town and community like apall. Mrs. Leila E. Knotts, the beloved sonsort of Col. D. J. Knotts, entered into rest at the Columbia hospital or Thursday last, the 16th day of May, 1907. She connected herself with the Bap:ist church in her girlhood and lived i consistent Christian life. She was mly forty-eight years of age and hex riends had hoped that many years oi earthly usefulness were still hers; but 'man proposes and God disposes." No one had a warmer place in the aearts of the people here than this most excellent Christian lady. Lofty in character, pleasing and attractive m manner, tender and loving in her 3onstant solicitude for the comfort md happiness of family and friends, )pen hearted, generous, pure in life; Jhe was a splendid specimen of exlalted womanhood. Calmly, quietly md strong in the Christian's hope she passed from earth and earthly cares, grieving only for the bereaved and sorrowing wrho were left behind. ;4Oh, why should our tears run down, 3ur hearts be sorely riven; For another gem in the Saviour's crown, Another star in heaven." To the Editor of the X>i9patch: Pleasant, nice weather and every3ody is making use of it; some in pleasure visiting, others in battling with the grass. Corn i9 looking real [lice but cotton doesn't seem to take :>n much growth. The Williamson plan with corn can hardly be endured t?y those who have always been rushing their corn from the beginning. Oats will be a fairly good crop, wheat a failure. All kinds of fruit will be scarce except the blackberry. Garden vegetables are plentiful and beans will be on the table in a very few days. Setting sweet' potatoes and shooting the bugs off the white potatoes are general. Health is fine, though Mr. Jacob Price, nearly 86, fell and broke his arm Sunday morning. Dr. Oxner was promptly called and soon had it set. S. A Coming Marriage.
