The world's demand and con- j sumption are adjusted to an American crop of 14,000,000 bales. My in- j vesrigations lead me to believe that * there is not the remotest probability of such a crop being marketed this ' year. An unusual willir^gness to sell ' on the part of planters and an unexampled demand from spinners have made this the most rapidly moving 1 crop on record. The prospects are 1 that, unless every substantial advance * in prices checks in consumption, we '* - - - - i- - - 1_ _? < shall finish the season witn a stocit 01 | cotton in America impossibly small J in relation to the magnitude of the * trade and the demand. The quality * of the New York stock has been misrepresented. It is by no means un- 1 spinnable, and in my opinion will ( shortly be in active demand at much * higher prices. 1 The world's gold production is in- ( creasing at a rate that will inevitably ] increase the value of all agricultural 1 commodities, as expressed in terms of * gold, and cotton will feel the influ- * ence of this factor more acutely than ( most any other commodity. The point of saturation has been almost * reached in so far as the gold standard ] of value is concerned and once this t point has been passed the effect in ad- 1 vancing the price of all commodities will be sensational. Ansel has given hearing to Lexington lawyers on an act of the general assembly providing for a new school district in Lexington county, ( which has been held up until protests i could be filed: The protests are pure- I ly on legal grounds and the governor t reserved his decision until later. A i similar act passed for Florence county I is also held up until the protests are 1 filed. The governor has signed all 1 other acts. A Boys 2To Account. Pack, a young white man of 1 fanning, was accidentally shot with 1 parlor rifle by Mr. Wilson, an em- | loye of the Clarendon Sentinel, on 'hursday. The wound is extremely 0 angerous. The jury made a mistrial on Thurs- = ay in the Henderson-Free murder ase at Saluda after being out all ight. This is the second mistrial in his case and it is said that Solicitor looper will ask for a change of venue o some other county in the 8th ciruit.
