Mrs. S. J. Wigger3 had the misfor- |
tune to fall and break her arm on Sunday
last. At this writing she is resting
fairly well.
The members of St. Peter's met at !
the parsonage last week for the pur- j
pose of sawing and cutting v/ood for
Pastor Sox. On the same day the ladies
met at the church; cleaned the
carpet and glass, which adds much to
the appearance on the inside. The
members of St. Peter's are greatly in
love with their pastor,
Mr. Ncah Derrick moved to Chapin
last week.
Mr. M. P. Lindler is preparing to
have an entertainment at the close of
his school the la?t- of March.
Mr. H. F. Wheeler is closing out
his stock of general merchandise and
will engage in the hardware business
in Columbia.
Mr. Samuel Fulmer, of Blythwood,
Richland count v. is here making:
some repairs on his father's place.
Our farmers are hauling fertilizers.
They are well up with their farm
work in general. Let us diversif}' our
crops, so that we can live at heme
and have our cotton as a surplus.

A Good Bscsipt for Whitewash.
The following is said to be one of
the very best receipts for whitewash :
Half a bushel of unslacked lime,
slack with warm water, cover it during
the process to keep the steam,
strain the liquid through a fine sieve
or strainer; and a peck of salt previously
well dissolved in warm water;
three pounds of ground rice boiled to
a thin paste and stir in boiling hot;
half a pound of Spanish whiting and
a pound of glue which can be previously
dissolved over a slow fire, and

mixture, stir well and let it stand for
a few days, covered up from the dirt.
It should be put on hot. One pint of
the mixture will cover a square yard
