night with Mr. F. W. Ranch. He
preached at Peter's, Sunday morning

Our old friend, Elias Amick, near
Hilton, has reversed the popular song,
and his voice c; j now be heard with
its sweet echo: "Nobody Works but
Father," while Pat Bickley joins in
the chorus with a tremendous voice.
Miss Nina Henry is teaching the
Newburg school near Hilton. She is
a teacher of experience and is giving
entire satisfaction to the patrons of
the school and is popular with the
pupils.

that the taxpayers are slow paying up
and those sending the money by mail
do not include the penalty in their
Temittance which must be paid. Taxes
at this time.are not up to fornier collections.

Capt. Meetz carried to the chain
gang yesterday, John Jacobs, white,
and Preston Sikes, colored. Isaac
Jones paid his fine, $40, but not until
he had been hand cuffed and started
for the gang. They were convicted
of gambling.
