Mr. Jas. F. Bachman, residing below
Kennerly's bridge, on the Dunbar
road, has caught five wildcats in
the past few months. The largest one
weighed 211bs." He has been terribly
worried with these varments, losing
his chickens day and night, until he
finally struck a cute way of catching
them. He places a coop of chickens
in the edge of the swamp and sets
steel-ti&ps around the coops which is
a sure way of catching them.

Sheriff Lisashouse Acquitted.;
Sheriff M. M. Limehouse, of Dorchester
county, was tried in Orange*? *
. - i . . i .
Durg last weea ior maieieasance in
office or, in other words, criminal
cowardice. The jury after being out
about one hour and a half, returned
a verdict of not guilty.*
It will be remembered that a posse
of men took Will Spain, a negro, accused
of attempt at criminal assault
upon a little white girl last August,
from the sheriff in broad daylight
and lynched him.
The matter was investigated by
Governor Heyward and he was suspended,
and the grand jury found a
true bill. The case was transferred
to Orangeburg county for trial. The
case was tried last week with the result
that the sheriff was acquitted.
He will again take the sheriff's office.
