The Lexington Dispatch.
Wednesday, December 19.1906.
Gaston Gleanings.
To tho Editor of The Dispatch:
Since the passing by of the tropical
storm we have been having some
ideal fall-like weather, all for which
we are grateful.
Miss Edna Mae Fallaw, one of Sand
Dam's fair bells, in company with Mr
Henry Huyler, paid a visit recently
to their sister, Mrs. W. B. Falliw
Some small grain has been sowed,
but there is more to follow.
Mrs. G. A. and C. S. Goodwin are
visiting relatives in Blackville and
Bamberg,
w M. Shflmo carrier on route No.
2, has resigned to accept work in
Florida; his sacc?sscr, E. E. Martin,
now delivers mail to the pretty girls
along that mountainous route.
Everything progresses finely along
route No. 1, and "Billy" has an eye
on the box containing Christmas
goods deposited for the carrier by the
patrons.
Since our last communication little
Winnie Janet, our darling babe of
ten months, has recovered from an
attack of fever and at this writing
Miss Sallie Fallaw is prostrated with
the same tind of fever, bat is doing
as well as could be expected.
On the morning of the ninth, about
the noon-day hour, in the substantial
home of the bride, in the presence of
a number of invited guests, there appeared
at the hymemal altar, Rev. G.
W. Kellev and Mrs. Catherine Coogler,
and took upon themselves the
marriage vows, administered by W.
B. Fallaw. Immediately after the
ceremony all repaired to the dining
hall and ate heartily of the well prepared
dainties which were plenty and
to spare. The couple, though more
than three-score years, looked neat,
tidy, hopeful and cheerful. We wish
for them yet many bright days of usfulness,
and may" they be "spent in
I . peace, joy and happiness.
_ The pretty Misses Corrie and Bell
I .Powell are spenamg some ume wnu
their cousin, Mrs. J. V. Smith. *

Couple Found Dsad.
New York, Dec. 13.?A man about
40 * years of age, believed to be the
Rev. C. S. Quinn, pastor of St. Agne9
church at Atlantic Highlands, N. J.,
and a young woman, thought to be
Miss B. Kiley, also of Atlantic Highlands,
were found dead in a room on
the top floor of an East Eighteenth
street boardinsr house todav. The
room was filled with gas, which had
escaped from a partially open jet in
the room. The couple had been at
the house since Wednesday evening.
The man called at the house last week
and inquired about the price of a room
for a married couple.

When to Go Home.
From the Bluff ton, Ind., Baimer:
"When tired out, go home. When you
want consolation, go home. When you
want fun, go home. When you want to
show others that you have reformed,
go home and let your family get acquainted
witli the fact. When you
want to show yourself at your best go
homeland and do the act there. When
you feel like beiDg extra liberal go home
and practice on your wife and children
first. When you want to shine with
extra brillancy go home and light up the

add, when you have a bad cold go home

Cold Weather Ahead.
It is generally predicted by prophets
and those who claim to be judges
of the weather, that this will be ore
of the coldest winters in many years,
and that if will not be many days before
it will "ommpnce.
Representative Parsons, of New
York, has introduced a bill in Congress
prohibiting the employment of
children in factories and mines. The
bill would be far raching in its effect,
but it is doubtful if it will pass at the
short session of Congress. It is said
that the bill has the support of or
ganized labor in the norf.li. The bi 1
provides among other things, that
the railroads shall not carry the product
of any factory or mine that employs
children under fourteen years
of age.
Citizens of Lexington county will
stand in there own light if they d^
not give right of ways over their land
for the electric railroad. It will help
i the party who owns the land and will
i benefit the public at large.
