and bladder are out of order.
What To Do.
There is comfort in the knowledge so
often expressed, that Dr. Kilmer's
Swamp-Root, the great kidney remedy,
fulfills every wish in curing rheumatism,
pain in the back, kidneys, liver, bladder
and every part of the urinary passage.
It corrects inability to hoM water
and scalding pain in passing it, or bad
effects following use of liquor, wine or
beer, and overcomes that unpleasant necessity
of being compelled to go often
during the day, and to get up many
times during the night. The mild and
| the extraordinary effect of Swamp-Root
is soon realized. It stands the highest
for its wonderful cures of the most distressing
cases. If you need a medicine
yon should have the best. Sold by drugV
gists in fifty-cent and one-dollar sizes.

Lesington County Teachers
Meeting.
The first meeting of the pre^nt
school year was hela Saturday, December
1, 1906.
Supt. J. E. R. Kyzer occupied the
chair. * v
The following officers were elected:
President?J. F. Kyzer.
1st. Vice-President?S. S. Lindler.
2nd. Vice-President?Miss Sue Corley.
Executive Committee?Prof. F. W.
Rauch, chairman; Miss Ellen Hen
drix, Secretary of Committee; Miss
Lizzie Seay, Miss Eppie Roof and
R. E. Sheaty; Miss Mary C. "VVingard,
Secretary and Treasurer.
The meeting proved very pleasant
and each one seemed glad he or she
had been present.
Later a program for the January
meeting will appear in the Dispatch
and we hope to have a better meeting
next time than the December meeting.
A paper was read by Miss Ellen
Hendrix on the subject of "Silent
Influence of the Teachers for good,"
a synopsis of which is given below:
This subject is as broad in application
as practical illustrations in nature
are numerous.
The heat from the sun raises tons
of water into the air, to be returned
as dew or rain, enlivening all nature.
This is stupendous work acne silently.
The little grains, seeds and acorns,
lie in the soil and are nourished by
the silent agencies of heat and moisture.
They as silently sprout and
peep forth, there is no sound to herald
their approach. It is only when
seen that we are aware of their life.
The plants develop so quietly and
slowly that we cannot perceive their
growth, even if we watched them for
an hour, yet if we compare their
growth week after week, we can see
the growth of nature's silent forces.
The greatest of all teachers?our
loving Jesus Christ?laid great stress
? J- * > xl
upon tne silent iorees ror goca, m uie
lesson he drew from the^-parable of
the leaven, a little, of which ieaveneth
the whole lump. He therebytaught
that it is the silent power in
human nature which aids and develops.
The potent influence of a sympathetic
glnace, the nod of approval
and the watchful eye are silent, yet
powerful factors, in controlling and
fostering good habits.
If you wish to know what influence
the reading of a book has, stop and
examine the state of mind in which
you lay the book down. Has it ldad
you to be-sruspicious? Has it taught
you to be discontented? Has it caused
ycu to relax self government without
which you violate the laws of God
and man? Does it stimulate vanity,
selflshness, irreverence or any other
base characteristic? Dees it deaden
your sense of right, which God has
given you as an automatic governor?
If any of these be the influence on
the adult mind from reading a book,
how much greater the influence of
the teacher's daily walk and conversation
upon the life oi the ter.ucr h>
tle plants entrusted to their care.
St. Paul exhorts self examination.
The teacher needs to frequently ma!:
self examinations. It lies in the silent
power of the teacher to lead the
pupils in their charge to live in accord
with the perfect command?to
love thy neighbor as thyself.

To the Editor of The Dispatch: I
I will thank you for a little space in
your valuable paper to let my people
and friends hear from me, as it would
be quite a burden on me to write a
letter to each of them.
At this writing I am as well as com- '
mon, though not well. My family is
well and the health of the community
is good. '
Mr. Editor, there was a very good J
crop made in this portion of Ariran- |
sas this year. If there was less public
work in this country we would be
in better shape. The farmers can't
control labor. Every man or boy
that can pull a saw or drive a team (
that is needed on the farm, has gone
to the public works, where, they s
claim, they have a pay day, but there J
is not. one out of ten that is saving
anything. TVe can hear from 12 to 15
steam whistles toot day and night, I
and the timber will soon be all gone <
from these parts. Then, maybe, the j
farms will be looked after again.
This is a good farming country if
the people would only stick to it. I 3
was expecting some of the young i
men fro-m old South Carolina to visit
this country t.hi3 fall, but as yet, none
n?vp shown iti T pro satisfied there
are some people back there that
could do betoer here. They can get
homes here; there it seems they cannot.
Well, Mr. Editor, I better stop for
fear you wiiHook up that eld soap
box.

A Good Official.
Supervisor L. J. Langford was in <
town Monday and Tuesday on official j
business. Perhaps during his administration
he has made some mistakes, <
but in the whole, he has made a good
official. The board has reduced taxation
a y2 mill, and will have a cash
balance at the end of the fiscal year,
and there is no reason why the new
board cannot reduce taxation at least
y2 mill more. The dispensary profits
have increased considerably, which
will aid along this line.
