Spring Sill Sparks. We have just finished with the "kids" lessons and will now give you the remainder of the time we have to spare. Why is it that so many men that could be useful and ornamental to their immediate communities, are continuously, and persistently "diggingditches" for their neighbors, and are themselves the victims of their own snares? It does seem that a fool would learn something by experience. The farmers have about finished gathering their crops, and while cotton is short, the good prices for the staple compensates for the shortage, and the workingman is happy and ready to begin another year with a little bank account to his credit. A good many farmers are still holding their cotton for better prices and are determined not to sell, until prices I advance more satisfactory. At one time Mr. Geo. Bishop was conductor on the C. N. & L. that runs through the three townships of Dutch Fork, and he has some warm friends in this section. Mr. Bishop is now one of the Southern's efficient detectives and though a Newberry man, his friends of the Fork appreciate his worth. He was at Peak last week one day, and we are listening for something to drop. Rumor has it that Dr. Joseph W. Eargle and family will shortly move to Chapin. Spring Hill's loss will be Chapin's gain. Dr. Eargle will run a drug store and practice in the surrounding country. One night last week burglars entered the store of Derrick & Chapman at Peak and left with three S. & W. pistols, a number of watches and other merchandise to the amount of about $125. Several months ago at the same town, a car was broken into and some clothing stolen. It is to be hoped that the guilty parties will be apprehended and this practice cease, for a while at least. Several of the old veterans of the Fork attended the unveiling of the equestrian statue to South Carolina's idol?Wade Hampton. Mr. Edwin Grover Eleazer, who is now in the employ of the Southern, running from Columbia to Savannah, I snent a few davs under the parental roof at Spring Hill last week. Jas. A. ana Miss Mattie Eleazer of the Hollingshed section, spent Satur-' day night and Sunday with relatives here. Ed L. Eleazer has gone to Savannah, Ga., in the employ of Swift & Co. 4 At a regular meeting of Pomaria Lodge, A. F. M. most of the officers were re-elected. Bro. J. C. Swygert, who has been Worshipful Master for a number of years, was unanimously re-elected. The Lodge is in good financial condition. Spring Hill school, under the management of Prof. John H. Counts, a Clemson boy, opened on the 19th, with a good attendance. Our old friend, Jas. A. Summer, was severely scaldec^on his arm last week, by a cup of hot coffee, and is now carrying ft in a sling. Again. ?????-? Tyner's Dyspepsia Remedy. Many Have Dyspepsia and Don't Know It. Spartanburg, Nov. 23.?Henry Seay, the member of the local fire department who shot and killed his brotherin-law, Charles Ravan, near this city several months ago, was tried here today upon the charge and acquitted. The case was given to the jury at 4:20 p. m., and at 7:30 p. m. they returned a verdict of not guilty. The plea of self-defence was put up by the defence. There were but two eye-witnesses to the affair and they corroborated the story told by the defendant. The row occurred over scandalous reports, the nature of which was not brought out in court, which Seay claimed Ravan had circulated concerning him. A Home Made Happy by Chamberlain's Cough Bemedy About two months ago our baby girl had mease Is which settled on her lungs and at last resulted in a severe attact of bronchitis. We had two doctors but no relief was obtained. Everybody thought she would die. I went to eight different stores to find a certain remedy which had been recommended to me and I failed to get it, when one of the storekeepers insisted that I try Chamberlain's Cough Remedy. I did so and our baby is alive and well today.?Geo. W. Spenee, Holly Springs, N.C. For sale by Kaufmaim Drug Co. FLUE CURING IMPRt ROASTING IMPROV f r riue uuiiisy ucveiuio mo ? Found In Schnapps that ! There are three ways used by farmers for ctiring and preparing their tobacco for the market; namely, sun cured, air cured and flue cured. The old and cheap way is called air cured; the later discovery and improved way is called flue cured.
