Dispensary's Condition Better
Financially Than Ever
Before.
The quarterly report of the financial
operation and condition of the State
dispensary was made public- today
The figures are for the quarter ending
August 31, and are of special interest
in view of so much political bombast
and misreDresentation about the fi
nances during the recent primary
canvass.
The figures show the institution to
be in a splendid condition, the report
being, all in all, about the best in the
way of profitable showing ever made.
All this despite the intensity of the
effort to discredit the administration
and despite the number of Brice law
counties, is a high compliment to the
business sagacity of Commissioner
Tatum, his associates and the management
generally. Notwithstanding
the many obstacles purposely thrown
in the wav of success and the shrewd
work of sharp opponents in manufacturing
all sorts of depressing and retarding
influences and conditions, the
institution is in a better financial position
than ever before and a better
. quarterly showing is made than, perhaps,
has been made in. all previous
years of the existence of the instituj
tion.

I the close of the last quarter in May,
yet general assets and accounts due
and being settled are such that the
cash balance is practically over $131,000
greater. The amount of capital
stock belonging to the school fund,
allowed by the legislature, is clearly
set forth and a comparison shows that
| this stock is being turned into cash
I and over to the school fund in greater
sums than ever before.?Record.
Wounds, Bruises and Burns.
By applying an antiseptic dressing to
wounds, bruises, burns and like injuries
before inflammation sets in, they may
be healed without maturation and in
about one-third the time required by the
old treatment. This is the greatest discovery
and triumph of modem surgery.
Chamberlain's Pain Balm acts on this
same principle. It is an antiseptic and
when applied to such injuries, causes
them to heal very quickly. It also allays
the pain and soreness and prevents' any
danger of blood poisoning. Keep a hot- ,
tie of Pain Balm in your home and it
will save you time and money, not to
mention the inconvenience and suffering
such injuries entail. For sale by The
Kaufmann Drug Co.
Fort Mill, S. C., Oct. 11.?Three
negro children were burned to death
this afternoon in a fire which consumed
a house on Mr. J. M. Pratt's plan- c
tation near town. The negro parents (
locked the children in the house when ?
they went to their day's work and the 1
children probably started the fire. t
