Mr. W. M. Shand, of the firm of
Shand & Shand, one of Columbia's
strongest legal firms, was here last
week at court.
A. M. Boozer,Esq.,was in attendance
at court. He is a sound councellor
and safe lawyer, especially on the
civil side of the court.

been hard to find in our stores or on
the market.
Mr. Chas. H. Drafts has accepted a
position at the Columbia Hotel and is
now filling the same acceptably to
both the management and the guests
of the hotel.
The streets on yesterday presented
an animated scene as the various
workers busied themselves for their
respective friends. Everything was
quiet and sober.

Judge Andrew Crawford was here
last week with his green bag filled with
buiiness, and his able and firm arguments
in the court room could be
heard in the land.
It is said by some of our oldest inhabitants
that the continual rainfall
is the heaviest known and that we
may not expect a cessation until
about the 5th of next month?the end
of dog days.
Misses Mary and Ruth Graham have
returned from a pleasant visit to their
aunt, and last week they were delighted
to have a visit from Miss Eulelia
Lamar, a friend from Aiken.
