Sox, David M. Sox, Otto Hegman, James E. Hendrix, M. D. Harman and Paul P. Clark. There not being a quorum present on account of an error as to date of meeting, it was agreed and desired to call a special meeting to be held at this place on the first Monday of September (the 3d) at eleven o'clock, at which time it is hoped and urged that each and every member be present. We say good for the good sense and patriotism of the Georgia legislature. There is no tendency in Southern life which promises more of evil, more of depredation, more of disappoint ments and wrecked homes than that of attempting to get rich by other than legitimate means. Future gambling is a delusion and a snare. The poor devil who puts his hard earned cash in the hands of cut throat gamblers and expects a profitable return therefore, might as well wipe the ashes of disappointment form his lips the moment the cash is handed over. The only way to make money is to make it legitimately, by honest means. It is the hope of every patriotic soul, every man who regards his country welfare that the South Carolina legis la tare will follow the good example set by our neighboring State.
