the vital organs, causing catarrh of
the bladder, or the kidneys themselves
break down and waste away cell by cell.
Bladder troubles almostalways result
from a derangement of the kidneys and
a cure is obtained quickest by a proper
treatment of the kidneys. If you are feeling
badly you can make no mistake by
taking Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root, the
great kidney, liver and bladder remedy.
It corrects inability to hold urine and
scalding pain in passing it, and overcomes
that unpleasant necessity of being
compelled to go often through the day,
and to get up many times during the
night. The mild and the extraordinary
effect of Swamp-Root is soon realized.
It stands the highest for its wonderful
cures of the most distressing cases.
Swamp-Root is pleasant to take and is
sold by all druggists in fifty-cent and
one-dollar size bottles. You may have a
sample bottle of this wonderful mew discovery
and a book that tells all about it,
both sent free by mail. Address, Dr. Kilmer
& Co., Binghamtou, N. Y. When
writing mention reading this generous
offer in this paper. Don't make any
mistake, but remember the name, SwampRoot,
Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root, and the
address, Binghainton, N. Y., on every
bottle.

Johnson and Thompson
And the Barking Dog
JOHNSON and Thompson were next
door neighbors. Johnson had a
dog that barked a considerable
part of every night. Finally Thompson
said to Johnson:
"Look here, Johnson, we have always
been friends, and I hope you won't
take offense if I tell you that the barking
of your dog is driving me and my
family mad for want of sleep."
"Dear me," said Johnson. "That's

barked any to speak of."
Two or three evenings afterward
Thompson came home leading a dog?
the dog?by a string.
"Now, then," said he to Mrs. Thompson,
"we will soon have a chance to
sleep. I didn't like to shoot the beast
while he belonged to Johnson, so I
have bought him. Nobody can blame
us for killing our own dog. I'll get
some chloroform tomorrow."
A mouth passed, and Johnson and
Thompson met.
"Well, Thompson, you haven't ehloro- I
formed the dog yet."
"No," said Thompson. "The truth is
I we have become rather fond of the fellow.
He is so lively and playful."
i - "But doesn't his barking at night an- j
noy you?" ,
"I haven't noticed it."
"H'm!" said Johnson. "The brute
i keeps us awake half the night. I don't

Tke Moon's Phases.
The phases of the moon are caused
by its relative position to the earth and
the sun, so that when it is full moon
in one part of the earth it is full moon
in all parts of the earth, and so for all its
other phases. The moon revolves
| around the earth once in twenty-seven
days, though on account of the earth's
revolution around the sun the mean
duration of the lunar month?that is,
the time from new moon to new moon
?is twenty-nine days, twelve hours

There is a lesson in the work of the
thrifty farmer. He knows that the
bright sunshine may last but a day and
he prepares for the showers which are
so liable to follow. So it should be
with every household. Dysentry, diarrhoea
and cholera morbus may attack
some member of the home without
warning. Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera

best known medicine for these diseases,
should always be kept at hand, as immediate
