Anderson, Aug. 2.?About 2,000 representatives were gathered at the Buena Vista park here this morning to hear Senators Tillman and Latimer, Congressman Aiken and would-be Congressman Boggs. He reviewed state politics for the past sixteen years and in this way showed the folks he has a right as their leader to come and educate them on live issues. He told them how the issue really is and exposed all the tricks and means gotten together to kill the dispensary. He talked of the dirtiness of the antidispensarites in trying to kill the state dispensary. He ridiculed the Brice bill and said it is not on Democratic rule. The investigating committee accomplished nothing, but spent full appropriation. Galveston's Sea Wall makes life now as safe in that city as on - the highest uplands. E. W. Senn, the son of Jacob and Kezia Senn, was born October 13th 1832, and died June 17th, 1906, making his abode here on earth 73 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was married to Miss Mary Roof in December 1873. This union was blessed with five children, one son and four daughters, of which one daughter had preceeded him to the other world. He joined the M. E. church in early youth and remained a consistent member of the same until death. He leaves a wife, four children, six grand-children, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. J. D. S. I Unnecessary Expense. C., August 1.?The body of Foreman Beacham, who was murdered near High Point yesterday afternoon by a negro, was shipped this afternoon to his old home at Chapin, S. C., for burial. Beacham was in charge of a gang of workmen of the Southern and was at work when a workman whom he had discharged the day before walked up and shot him down with a shot gun. He died in the depot at High Point an hour or so later. A posse with bloodhounds went in search of his slayer, but the hunt was unsuccessful. A Mystery Solved. Governor Heyward has respited until August 31st the negro Luke Gray, sentenced to be hanged on last Friday for the murder February 2nd last of Mr. Clifford Woodward, a merchant of Montmorenci. The governor's action was based principally, of course, upon the recommendation of the board of pardons, which suggested a reprieve.
