The lightning Saturday evening struck and killed a mule hitched to a buggy, beyond the depot. Some ladies were driving the mule and the rain came up, they hitched the mule 4 to a pine tree and they went into a house, the lightning struck the tree and killed the mule, which belonged to Mr. Geo. W. Corlev. Death of An Infant. ) The infant child of Mr. Davis Swygert, who resides near Pine Ridge, died very suddenly Saturday evening, i It was about eight months old. He worked all day Saturday, ate ahearty supper and was taken sick and died before day. Jesse was an industrious, active and thrifty farmer in mature life and a good citizen. He was about fortyfive years old and for years has been a regular, consistent member of the Salem Baptist church in whose grave yard his remains now rest to await the summons from "on high." He was a firm and true friend, a J considerate husband, a kind father and a provident husbandman in life. He leaves many friends to regret his loss. He was born and reared, lived and died in the same community, and to the bereavement of the home he loved, and the neighborhood he so faithfully served. Spctator. Swansea, S.
