C. The Lexington Dispatch. Wednesday, May 2, 1906. Whiskey, or No Whiskey. To the Editor of the Dispatch: Please allow us to say that your suggestion to place a box at each precinct at the approaching primary election for the reception of ballots marked "dispensary" or "do dispensary," was not in our minds when we prepared the address upon which < nnmcnforl in rr.nr taaf. iflSHA. J WU V# U4?UVU%VVI *M J WU* *wv? The position which we take and will maintain is that no election on the diepeneary will stand a legal test but that which is held in accordance with the provisions of the Brice law. To place a bos in the primary for a vote upon the question of "whiskey" cr "no whiskey" in order to test the strength of the whiskey men in the Democratic party in Lexington county might be a proper thing to do. But to undertake to put the dispensary out or to keep it in Lexington county, by a vote in the primary election, seems to us a repudiation of the action of the legislature io adopting the Brice bill in the first instance and its wisdom in refusing to repeal it io the second. The dispensary was established by statute law and can be removed only by the provisions of statute law. Whiskey, or no whiskey, is an open question and the Democratic party in its eoverignty can vote upon it in the primary if it chooses to do so. Joab Edward, Theo. If you had all the wealth of Rockefeller, the Standard Oil magnate, yon could not buy a better medicine for bowel complaints than Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. The most eminent physician can not prescribe a better preparation for colic and diarrhoea, both for children and adults. The uniform success of this remedy has shown it to be superior to all others. It never fails, and when reduced with water and sweetened, is pleasant to take. Every family should be supplied with it. Sold by The Kauf maim Drug Co. The Pace that Sills. We have the daily testimony cf those who have accumulated wealth to the effect that money fails utterly to satisfy. Men who are worthy of belief Bay that beyond a certain point, wealth is a burden, BDd yet humanity goes on burning out the higher instincts, blunting the finer sensibilities, destroying capacities for happiness in the mad scramble for the dollar. The old prayer, "Give me neither riches nor wealth," is not prayed now. We read cf the superior virtues of the simple life, give mental assent, but strive all the harder to get into the complex. The human mind cannot comprehend infinity, nor is it easy to take in anything like an adequate conception of what a million dollars really is.
