For the Convention in 2?ay. ~ 1 The Democratic Executive committee held a quiet meeting in Columbia last Toursday evening and issued the calls for the State and county Democratic conventions. j There were no startling incidents ' and little of unusual interest was ; brought up. Senator Manning submitted resolutions that the convention be held in Columbia at noon on May 16&h and that the county chairmen throughout the State be instructed to call together the clubs on the 28:h day of April for the purpose of electing delegates to county conventions, which will assemble May 7th. for the I , purpose of electing delegates to the aforesaid State convention, each county being entitled to double the representation it has in the general assembly.
