Wednesday, April 4,1906.
Our Delegation in Congress.
"Washington Cor. to State.
The State Bureau,
1417 G Street, N. W,
Washington, March 29.
Representative Lever has been invited
to deliver the annual address
before the Erosopbio Literary society
of the Cokesbury Conference echod
on June 4:h. He felt forced to de*
nliriA invitation because of the
date, which comes about the time
coDgress is expected to be closing up
its affairs for adjournment. He is
particularly interested in a number
of measures, certain appropriations
and the like, which will be at the
crucial point just prior to adjournment
Senator Tillman continues to get
invitations to college commencements
and to other functions. He has received
a number of invitations to
make addresses on Jefferson day,
April $ad. The "William L. Douglas
clnb'' of Springfield, Mass., a large
Democratic club in Chicago and the
Democratic league of Delaware, at
Wilmington, are among those which
want him to make speeches at their
annual dinners. All of these the
senator has declined, not having the
time.
Representative Patterson has had
some more conferences with officials
at the navy department with respect
to the Port Royal navy yard and the
disposition of the buildings. Assistant
Secretary Newberry did not stop
over at Port Royal on his recent trip
Sooth as he had expected. He tells
Mr. Patterson of his regrets that it
was not practicable. Secretary Bonaparte,
however, who seems to be in
favor of patting the naval training
station at Port Royal, has promised
to read the reports already made by
a naval committee which recommended
the training station, and it is expected
that be will take the matter
op at his first opportunity.
Representative Lever had a conference
today at the post office department
concerning the BlufFton R
F. D. route. It is necessary for
three-fourths of the families on that
road to signify their intention to put

Cure these with Aver's Pills.
Our Virginia Letter.
To the Editor of the Dispatch:
It baa been some time since ?
arete to my friends through the Dispatch,
and now I scarcely know what
pill interest them. I lead a very
busy life, but I do not know that
ffhat I do up here would furnish
reading matter for the folks "at
lome." There is much to be done
ind few to do it. Many vacancies
n church work exists and we are
;ryiug to give some extra service. I

nay before long, have some former .
South Carolinians near us. I see
Rev. P. H. E. Derrick occasionally, i
Se is liked by his people and is dong
a good work. Each member of
lis family has just bad measles.
We have just had one of the heavest
snows of the winter. Last Satur3ay
morniDg it began in good Virgina
fashion, and lasted all day. Much
)f it was rouud snow, and all told
intil night, was about 8 inches deep.
[ faced the music bravely, however,
Sunday morning. A fine mist was
tolling. Had about 100 at church
0 morning. A friend drove me about
ive miles, where I preached in a
vacant church in the afternoon,
rhough a deep snow, lay on the
ground, the drive was fine, being on
1 good macadamized road. The
weather at night was almost prohibition

'regatioo. I preached a whole week
in a vacant church at Atkins, Va., 10
miles from here. As a rule the willing
horse is urged, so I have been
sailed on to do a lot of such extra
work. The people have been kind
ind responsive.
We had one sad case to face recently,
though. A young man from
me of our best families had some
love troubles it seems and went out
just two weeks ago and took his own
life. It cast a gloom over the community.
He had been an inveterate
cigarette smoker, and I believe this
blunted his sensibilities to the enormity
of the act.
Our health is and has been good.

Cured Hemorrhages of the Lungs
"Several years since my lungs were so
badly affected that I had many hemorrhages,"
writes A. M. Ake, of Wood,
[nd. "I took treatment with several
physicians without any benefit. I then
starred to take Foley's Honey &nd Tar,
md my lungs are now as sound as a
bullet. I recommend it in advanced
stages of lung trouble." Foley's Honey
find Tar stops the cough and heals the
lungs, and prevents serious results from

Bridget, the pretty young maid-of- J
all-work, confided to her mistres
when taking service that Bhe bad j
lately become engaged to be married, j
She stated, however, that she and j
Tim would bave to wait two years,
and in the meantime she wished to
be earning money.
When Tim made his first call one
evening the family remarked that
they had never known eo quiet a
man. The sound of Bridget's voice
rose now and then from the kitchen,
but Tim's words were apparently
few and far between.
"Tim is not much of a talker, is
he, Bridget?" siid the mistress of
the house the next morning. "I
should scarcely have known there
was anyone with you last night."
' He'll tilk more when we've been
engaged a while longer, I'mthinkiDg,

that on Eighteen Mile Hill, which
was done under the supervision of
Mr. Langford, some years ago, and
is, perhaps, the best piece of work
ever done in the county. After completing
work on this section, which
will take about two weeks, the gang
will then follow down the river road
to Brookland and thence on the State

Fight "With Fulajanes.
Manila, March 25 ?According to
advices received today, the recent
fight at Magtaon, Samar, between

the fight 30 Pulajanes were killed
and 16 of the constabulary were

The Richest Man in the World.
The richest man in the world can not
have his kidneys replaced nor live without
them, so it is important not to neglect
these organs. If Foley's Kidney Cure is
taken at the first sign of danger, the
symptoms will disappear and your health
will be restored, jis it strengthens and
builds up these organs as nothing else
will. Oscar Bowman, Lebanon, Ky.,
writes: *'I have used Foley's Kidney

it cured me permanently of kidney disease,
which certainly would have cost
