Many changes were made in the assessments of individual taxpayers by tbe town and township board. A number of agrieved persons met the board in accordance with notice, but few changes, however, were made looking to a reduction of the valuation fixed by said boards. "A Spartanburg merchant, who has just returned from New York, says people in South Carolina have no idea how strong a hold Senator Tillman has taken on northern sentiment. His name is on the lips of nearly everybody in New York, financiers and wholesale merchants and business men of large affairs as well a9 the ordinary citizen.
