Legler, Jr., 21 years old, is

Body 27ot Found.

Peak, Feb. 12 ?The body of Ed
Willingham, the negro who fell from
the railroad bridge at. this point and
was drowned in the Broad river, has
not yet been found. A thorough
search is being made for the body,
but without success.
Willingham was a good negro and
was well thought of by the white
people of this section. He was a
first-class shoemaker and did a gocd
business.

and the supreme court was considering
an appeal. Jarrell sawed through
eight steel bars. The fact that Hicks

Henry sterling, a straDger six feet
and five inches high, was arrested in
Charleston on Wednesday on the
charge of having held up and robbed

He claims to be an invalid in search
of health and goes on crutches in

Miss Lottie Matthews, aged 18
and pretty, daughter of the president
of the Lynchburg Grocery company,
was found in R varmont park, Lynchburg,
Va., on Wednesday dead, with
a pistol shot in the temple* It is
supposed to be a case of suicide.
Rev. ThoP. C. Jacks, a prominent
Baptist minister, died at his home in
Laurens county on Thursday in the
27cb year of bis age.

Duffie Wells Daily was bom May
30, 18S8, aDd departed this life Feb
ruary G, 1906, aged 18 years, 8 !
months and 6 days. Duffie was a
great sufferer from infaDcy and was
tenderly cared for by the family. He j
leaves a mother, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, j
A father, 3 sisters and a brother
preceded him.
The funeral pprvices were conducted
by Rev. N S. Younginer and Rrv S.
J. Riddle, after which his body was
deposited in Sbadv Grove cemetery.

hundred men harvesting ice on Saganaw
Bay with a dozen horses were
driven ashore in a vertit&ble panic
late today, when a sudden northeaster
swept down upon them, Ireeking
the ice field loose from shore.
Men and horses raced madly for
their lives, all safely reaching land,
however, before the breach between
the ice field and the shore ice became
impassable. The ice field was qoickly
driven against the west shore with
terriffic force, crushing and grinding
the shore ice 8Dd piliDg up ice barriers
ten to twenty feet high. The
northeaster was accompanied by a
blinding snowstorm.
George W. Beavers, after pleading
guilty to conspiring with Senator
i Grepn, of New York, in the sale of
time recordiog devices to the post
office department, was sentenced on
Tuesday to two years in the penitentiary
at Moundsville, W. Va.
Hannah Kelley, colored, of Ucicn,
is 106 years old and is still strcmg
