county stockholders will receive the
sum total of $14237 to divide up between

The dispensary situation, as far as 11
the senate is concerned, seems in *
stead of haying arrived at a conclu *
4 sion to be in a more coco plicated condition
than ever. There may not be
gBr any legislation whatever on the matter
at all this session. Last evening 6
the Morgan bill was* killed and the *
dispensary forces hooked to the title I
of it the substitute for the Biysor- 1
Manning bill. j
There is still a lot of work for the I
Legislature to complete before Saturday's
adjournment sine die.

Knowing, as we do, the gentlemen of S
this jury, we cannot believe that tbey "
intended anything improper by accepting
the courtesy of Mr. Johnson.
Yet, it was, perhaps, wrong to do so, ?
under the circumstances, more C1

especially 88 tbey bad to decide the h
fourth case of like nature for damage
by fire, upon some of the same food, ^
the understanding being that the ^
three cases tried as one would act as
a basis for the fourth, which this p
same jury were to hear. The point $
was well made by Mr. Seibles, at
torney for the plaintiffs, and of course j
he secured new trials. Judge Hy- 1
drick was quite severe and properly
so, in reprimanding the jurors for their i
mistake in the matter, and bad Mi. j
Johnson been present know doubt ?
his punishment might have been

the court of no wrong intention on n
his part. He has since secured af- *
fidavits from the j ary that be never b
offered or paid them anything. It ?
