visit to relatives and friends in Newberry.
Miss Liliie Smoak, who is teaching

spent the holidays with her parents

There was a general riot on Sunday
before Christmas near the Baptist

watch at Mrs. W. P. Boof's.
Mr. J. Mayo Ogilvie, recently of
the Bamberg Herald, formerly of
this place, spent a few days with
^friends in town last week.
Mr. J. F. Mack was up from Gaston
Saturday paying taxes and attending
to other business. He called
in to see the printer.

The bell of the Palmetto Collegiate
Institute sounds familiar, and the
work goes on lively as ever with
bright prospects for the new year.
Qaite a large crowd attended the
sale of the personal property of the
late Judge Dreher on last Thursday,
despite the rainy, disagreeable day.

Caughman, the popular clerk of W.
T. Martin's Sons, Columbia, spent
Christmas with the old folks at home.
What has become of our Swansea
correspondent? The readers of the
Dispatch miss the crisp and newsy
items from that progressive town and
section.
Rev. A. S. Leslie, who has been
assigned to this charge of the Met ho
diet churches, comprising of HoreD,
Hebron, Shiloh and this place, has
arrived.
Mr. Porter Caugbman, son of B.
L. Caugbman, Columbia, was among
the numerous visitors in town last
week enjoying the Christmas holidays.
