Cutting of Prices.
Like me farmers holding cotton
for stipulated price?, the manufacturers,
the druggists and those handling
patient medicines, have agreed
that all medicines will, hereafter, be
sold at regular prices. That is, all
medicines priced at 25c., 5Uc. $1 00.
will be sold only at ttieee fixed prices.
If a dealer violated this agreement be
will be* deprived of buying either
from the wholesale man or the manufacturers,
and consequently is cut
entirely out of the butjinet-s This is
but meet and proper provided the
purity of the article is kept up to first
class standard.
We have never believed in any cut
rate business, even with our general
merchants. Tney should be allowed
fair, living budtesj profits on their
merchandise. Bug the trouble generally
comes from one in the mercantile
business. Some smart Elick
tuinks he will play a big scooping
game and receive all the trade by
cutting prices, in which he is badly
mistakeu and will regret the act in
the future, as it is fooliBh to think
that any one man or hrui can ac<d
will hold all of the trade. Out mer
chant can buy and sell as cheaply as
another, consequently if he cuts the
price it is at his own detriment. In
selling at standard prices no one is
obliged to be exhorbitant, or take advantage
of his customers, but could
- ?0 - -
be kind and courteous and give first
class goods at fair, liviog prices,
which certainly would be more satisfactory
aod prove successful to his
merchants business.
There is a wroog impression with
some people who thick the merchants
profits are enormous, and that they
are growing rich from the toils of
those who patronage theiu in their
business. It is a fact that the profits
are much less now than a few yea!8
back. Everything is sold at close
prices Double the quantity of goods
must be handled to realize the same
money of only a few years passed
We must all remember, too, *bat.
generally the merchants are our best
friends. They are obliging and acoammodatiDg
and are glad to see the
people and country prospering.

A Grim Tragedy
is daily enacted in thousands of homes '
as death claims in each one another victim
of consumption or pneumonia. But
when couglis and colds are properly
treated, the tragedy is averted. F. G. :
Huntley, of Oaklandon, Ind., writes:
"My wife had the consumption, and
three doctors gave her up. Finally she
took Dr. King's New Discovery for
Consumption, Couglis and Colds, which
cured her, and today she is well and
strong. It kills the germs of all diseases.

The Grip.
"Before we can sympathize with
others, we must liave suffered ourselves."
No one can realize the suffering attendant
upon an attack of the grip, anless
he lias had the actual experience. There
is probably no disease that causes so
much physical and mental agony, or i
which so successfully defies medical aid. |
All danger from the grip, however, may
be avoided by the prompt use of Chamberlain's
Cough Remedy. Among the
tens of thousands who have used tliis
remedy, not one case has ever been reported
that has resulted in pneumonia
or that has not recovered. For sale by
