Tribute of Respect.
Whereas, it has pleased Almighty
God to take from as one of our beloved
Sunday school scholars, Carrie
Lavpnia Addy, wbo died November
4. 1904. St. David's Sunday school
has lost a scholar whose face we sadly
miss, whose place we can never
fill. While we bow to the will of
God who doeth all things well, we
deem it meet to offer the following
resolutions of respect in memory of
our departed sister; therefore, be it
resolved.
1st. That St. David's Sunday school
has lost a faithful member.
2d. That we extend our heart felt
sympthy to the bereaved family, and

Dispensaries Remain Open.
The supreme court has granted the
temporary id junction asked for by
Attorneys Bellinger and Welsh which
will keep the dispensaries open in
Anderson until a hearing is had on
January 8 on the constitutional questions
raised. In three counties,
Spartanburg, Greenville and Anderson,
the dispensaries that have been
voted out remain open under the in<

are anxious for the matter to be settled
by the court.
Commissioner Tatum has received
the regular requisitions from the dispensers
in these counties for the
usual supplies of whiskey and has
shipped out some of it, but be also
wishes a settlement of the matter on
account of his bond, which might become
involved in some way.
So far, according to the commissioner,
the dispensary has not felt the
effects of the voting out of the dispensaries
and the business is about
the same.

Moore, pastor of the Bap*i-;fc church, of
Harpersville. N. Y., will imerest you. He

Will Hang.
Arthur Williams, Jenkins Burrows
and Robert Scott, were convicted of
murder at a special term of Court in
Williamsburg County, last week, and
were sentenced to haDg on January
12th next. These negroes murdered
Mr. Juiiau Wilson, on the night of
Gc ober 13tb, at a country store in
the lower part of Williamsburg
county.

Brown Got the Job.

It seems that gome time ago District
Attorney John G. Capers had
one of the inspectors to examine the
affiirs of the Beiton post office, then
under the charge of J. E. Horton,
There was nothing wrong with the
office, but the inspector reported
that Horton's eons were doing most
of the work, a fchiDg Dot unusual in
the country post office. Capers then
wrote Senator Latimer Ptating that
Horton would be removed aDd said
that as Belton was the home town of
Latimer he would be allowed to suggest
any one he saw fit for the office.
Senator Latimer announced that he
would stand by Horton and endeavor
to have him retained.
As a counter proposition Capers
suggested Carroll Brown, who is a
relative of Senator Latimer by mar
riage. Even this idea did not suit
the senator and he still stuck by
Horton.
The influence of Capers, however,

was too strong ana ?>rown was appointed
and his confirmation will be
announced in a few days. Just what
the South Carolina delegation will
do about the matter is not known.
They are all aware that in one half
of the small offices the relatives cf
the postmaster usually help in the
work of the office and in many instances
do all of the work. They
do not want the post office inspector
to remove these men and necessitate
worry and trouble in their districts.
They will probably let the matter
drop, however, aDd wait for developments
that may arise in the senate,
where the appointments are watched
by the senators.

A Tragic Death.
Mr. Hyles D. Blackman, of Columbia,
who was running a wood saw
near Tom'* creek, on the old State
road, this county, was killed from
wounds inflicted by the saw while in
motion, Friday of last week. The
saw was running at its ueubl rate of
speed when for some unknown reason
it burst into fragments and one piece
struck him full m the face, splitting
open his head from chin to crowD.
He was placed in a vehicle and
