Fulmer, the charming daughter of
Mr. D. Cal Fulmer, accompanied by
Mr. Sam Wiggers with Miss Elvie
Fulmer, sister of the bride, drove to
'he parsonage near St. Peter's (Piney
Woods) church, and there were made
man ana wife by Rev. E J. Sox.
Then after the knot was tied they
quietly drove back down to Mr. D.
Ual Fuimer'd where they served a
supper. The table was loaded with
bounties and delicious eatables.
We wish them a long, happy and i
successful life, and take upon tbeir j
shoulders the burdens of life and
bear them easy.
Yes they married Murry and Mary,
To live in the kitchen and dairy;
Murry is a farmer, so he will plow,

A Hero.

On last Wednesday a man lost his life in
the effort to save the lile of a dog. He was
jnst a plain man in the humble walk of lile
? 8 section hand on the railroad?but within
him he had a heart ol gold.* He saw the
life of the dog in danger; it wcs about to
be run over by a train. His tender regard
for that dearest of all treasures, life, would
not allow him to remain inactive when it
was imperiled, even ihongh it was only
I the life of a dog that was thus endangered.
A fool, some will call him. but he was not
a fool. He was a tender hearted, sympathetic
man, with the instincts of a hero,
ready at any moment to risk his life in the
effort to save life.
How different such a noble spirit from
the murderons hearted! That which goes
about prepared to take even a human life
on the slighest preteyt or provocation.

Governor. A letter has been received from
one of the coantv officials statmg that
standard weights and measures are badly
needed aud the law providing for them
should be enforced. "The cost of these
weights is paid out of the county fines.
Death of Mrs. Elias G-nnte;.

Batesburg, November 24 ?Mrs. Elias
Gunter died at the home of her son.Mr. M.
S. Gunter, about 7:30 o'clock last evening
after having lived a long, useful and repeated
life She was born the 20th of Jannary.
1816, and had she lived two months
longer would have completed her forescore
and ten years. Her lite, that has spanned
nearly a century, has been richly fraught
with high principles, noble impluses and
manv kind, charitable deeds, that have left

world with which she came into the closest
touch. She was buried this afternoon in
public cemetery in the presence of many
friends and relatives.
