negro settlement near Arthur's last
Sunday, daring which Aaron Tolliver
was Bhot and mortally wounded by
Henry Williams and Arthur Tolliver,
a brother of Aaron, shot Williams in
the chest Aaron died Monday night
from the effects of his wound and
Williams is not expected to live.
Arthur Tolliver has skipped.

at the home of Capt. L W. Redd,
Superintendent of the Lexington
Mannfaoturing Co.. in this place, last
Sunday, October 5th, at 5 o'clock,
uniting his eldest daughter, Miss
Blanch, and Mr. John C. Wilson in
the holy estate of matrimony. Rev.
W. JL Heel, toe pastor or tbe bride, .
pronounced tbe words which made
the young couple man and wife.
After the ceremony the invited guest
were entertained at a marriage supper.
Tbe presents were numerous,
beautiful and costly. The young
couple starts the journey of life together
under fair skies and favorable
winds and the wish of their nomer- ;

Sam Dreher, a well known colored *
man of this place, went o'possum ^
hunting Wednesday night and^ on r
returning home was taken desperate- I
ly ill and died in a few minutes. 3

remains and Dr. Ed. Derrick
Dronounced that the deceased came
to his death from heart failure, and
the verdict was in accordance with
these facts. Sam had been in feeble
health for some time, but the end t
came so unexpectedly th&t hie friends \
were startled. He was a quie% ui- t
assuming and iadustrious man and 1
enjoyed the confidence and respect
of all classes of our citizens.
A Sad Death.
Miss Carrie, the 13-year-old daugh- _
ter of Mr. J. Weir Addy, who lives J
in Scbwitz9r Neck, died Saturday at
II o'clock, after a lingering illness
with typhoid fever. The interment
was at St. David in the presence of
a large congregation of sorrowing
relatives and friends, the Rev. J. A.
Cromer paying the last sad rites to _
the departed dead,

recently recovered from a protracted 0
