adviser at the Kawasaki shipyards in
Kobe, Japan, daring: the war with
f Russia, is now on his way to this
I country. J. J. ScollaD, who was
chief engineer at the Crescent plan,
has also left Kobe.
After the battle of the Sea of Japan
cablegrams purporting to be from
Mr. Chase to relatives in this country
and to the fffect that submarines
made by an American shipbuilder in
Japan helped to win Togo's victory,
were printed in several newspapers
in this country. The truth of the
matter is that Chase wrote to nobody
while in J*pan except his mother.
His position was a confidential one
and he gave no information to anybody.
The Japan Chronicle, printed in
Eugltsh at Kobe, in a recent issue
that has reached here says: "One
thing may be positively stated. It
is that, despite many statements
published in various parts of the
world, the Japanese did not have any
submarines in the battle of the Sea
of Japan."

Mothers Are Helped
THEIR HEALTH RESTORED
Happiness of Thousands of Hemes Due
to Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound
and Mrs. Pinkham's Advice.
A devoted mother seems to listen to
every call of duty excepting- the supreme
one that tells her to g-uard her
health, and before she realizes it some
derangement of the female organs las
manifested itself, and nervousness and
irritability take the place of happiness
and amiability.
Bii=A>S===gS===5g3
Tired, nervous and irritable, the
mother is unfit to care for her children,
and her condition ruins the child's
disposition and reacts upon herself.
The mother should not be blamed, as
she no doubt is suffering with backache,
headache, bearing-down pains or
displace/nent, making life a burden.
Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound
is the unfailing cure for this
condition. -It strengthens the female
organs and permanently cures all disnlar?<?mfmts
and irregularities.
^ Such testimony as the following
should convince women of its value:
Dear Mrs. Pinkham:
" I want to tell you how'much good Lydia E.
Pinkham's Vegetable Compound has done me.
I suffered for eight years with ovarian
troubles. I was nervous, tired and irritable,
and it did not seem as though I could
stand it any longer, as I had five children to
care for. Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable
Compound was recommended and it has entirely
cured me. I cannot thank you enough
for your letter of advice and for what Lydia
E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound has done
for me.?Mrs. Ph. Hoffman, 100 Himrod

An Awful Cough Cured.
"Two years ago our little girl had a

with an awful cough. She had spells
of coughing, just like one with the

bottle of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy,
which acted like a charm. She stopped
coughing and got stout and fat," writes
