Put Them to Work.
When speaking to Dr. H. L. Barton,
of the council of tbe city of
Augusta, Tuesday, August 1st, in
regard to the idle negroes in the
city, a promioenfc citizen said:
' I would like to see everyone of
them run out of Augusta if they are
not put to work. I tried to get a
negro a few days ago to do a small
job of whitewashing, and because
the j jb was a little larger than be
wanted, be backed out and went
down the street a few doors and remained
at a barroom all day. This
same negro has been doing nothing
for at least aweek. We taxpayers
ougbt to make a protest against it,
and see that the vagrancy law is
carried out. I am willing to carry
the matter before the proper authorities
and^make statements about the
affair if it is necessary. It makes me
shiver to lock at tbe low worthless
negroes as they infest a beautiful
city.
"At present we are about to be
confronted with a very serious dieease,"
he contioued, "and if this
large number of negroes is allowed
to remain in tbe city there is nothing
whatever to keep them from
scattering the disease if it should
start. I am in favor of running the
negroes out of the city if they do
not go to work; tdey are a nuisance.
Make them get to work on the streets
and this will stop all of tbe bowl ]
about tbe city not being clean; tbey
can be held on some charge, I am
certain." <
Nothing on the ICarket
Egual to Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera 1
and Diarrhoea Remedy.
This fact is well known to druggists
everywhere, and nine out of ten will give
their customers this preparation <
when the best is asked for. Mr. Obe Witmer,
a prominent druggist of Joplin,
Mo., in a circular to his customers, says:
"There is nothing on the market in the ,
way of patent medicine whicli equals '
Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diar. '
rhoea Remedy for bowel complaints.
We sell and recommend this prepara- I
tion." For sale by The Kaufmann

A Warning to Mothers.
Too much care cannot be used with
small children during the hot weather
of the summer months to guard against
bowel troubles. As a rule it is only
necessary to give the child a dose of
castor oil to correct any disorder of the
bowels. Do not use any substitute, but
give the old fashioned castor oil, and
see that it is fresh, as rancid oil nauseates
and has a tendency to gripe. If
this does not check the bowels give
Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diar
rhoea Remedy and then a dose of castor
oil, and the disease may be checked in
its incipiency and all danger avoided.
The castor oil and this remedy should
be procured at once and kept ready for
instant use as soon as the first indication
of any bowel trouble appears. This is
the most successful treatment known
and may be relied upon with implicit
confidence even in cases of cholera
infantum. For sale by The Kaufmann
Drug Co.
