The Hartley Brothers store at Summit,
was robbed last Monday night,
for the second time in the recent past.
It seems that there is a regular organized
gang of robbers operating

The Summer School.
Tbe Summer School for Teachers
is in full blast and some, good work
is being done. There are 53 teacherpupils
'in attendance, who will go
onfc better prepared to train the tender
plant in the paths of knowledge
and usefulness. The presence of
the charming young lady teachers
and the profound boy students are
much appreciated by our people.

Titns. a reDresenfeative of the United
States department of agriculture,
hss been here and at Batesburg for
the past several day8 investigating
the presence of an insect on cotton.
He comes at the request of Congressman
A. F. Lever, who is a member
of the agricultural committee.
Mr. Titus calls the insect the red
spider, a microscopic insect that
attaches itself to the leaves of the
cotton underneath and stings them
to death.
It was discovered about 60 years
ago 8nd has been in this section
about four or five years. For several
years its spread has been somewhat
rapid and it now covers a considerable
territory. Mr. Titus thinks there
will be no trouble to control the pest
if the right remedies are followed in
doe time. After quite an extensive
investigation hereabouts, imparting
maoh valuable and needed informs
tion, be went to St. Matthews where
is located the experiment . farm,
another result of Congressman Lever's
efforts. Both Messrs. Lever and
Titus have the gratitude of the farmers
of this community.

Pound Dead.
Coroner Wilson held an inquest
last Saturday over the body of an
unknown white man which was found
on the right of way of the Perry
Extension of the Southern Railway
on the Kineler land near Macon.
The physician announced that the
deceased came to bis death from
consumption and the jury so found.
Several days previous, a sick man
about 5 feet, 5 inches high of slight
built; Bandy hair and having on
good clothes appeared at the home
of Mr. John Faust for something to
eat and was given milk and bread
which he asked for. It is supposed
that the body was of this man. The
body was buried where it wa3 found.
