was in town Wednesday visiting his

Wednesday on a short visit to his

The smallpox scare is dying out
and people are beginning to come to
town. Soon everything will settle
down to normal conditions and everything
go along as merrily as a marriage

Judge Andrew Crawford a leading
light of the Columbia Bar, has sent
his renewal. The Judge has been
the legal advisor of so many of our
people, and has been coming over
so long that we have come to look

special elction for school purposes

Mr. Newton Monts, the polite and
popular clerk of the Lexington Department
Store, visited friends in
Bicbland county Sunday and Monday.
He has returned to his duties
and now wears a smile as bright and
as happy as if everything had been
satisfactorily arranged between his
best girl and himself.
Mr. J. 0. Cassady, who is connected
with the United States Census
Bureau, has been in town several
days during the past week in pursuit
of bis work. Mr. Cassidy's parents
were natives of this county, his
mother being a daughter of Mr.

The strawberry growers in the
berry belt of this State and North
Carolina claim to have lost 870,000
on account of the refrigerator car
people failing to supply cars in sufficient
numbers to promptly move the
crop. At Chadbourn, car after car
of spoilt berries were hauled to the
river and dumped in to get them out
of the way.
