The readers of this paper will be pleased
to learn that there is at least one dreaded
disease that science has been able to cure
in all its stages, and that is Catarrh. Hall's
Catarrh Cure is the only positive cure now
known to the medical fraternity. Catarrh
being a constitutional disease, requires a
constitutional treatment. Hall's Catarrh
Cure is taken internally, acting directly
upon the blood and mucous surfaces of
the system, thereby destroying the foundation
of the disease, and giving the patient
strength by building up the constitution
and assisting nature in doing its
work. The proprietors have so much
faith in its curative powers that they offer
One Hundred Dollars for any case that it
fails to cure. Send for list of testimonials.

I To the Editor of the Dispatch:
Jolly Easter has come and gone
and brought us a cold snap.
The health of this community is
generally good but we hear of Mr.
B. R. Shull being quite ill.
Our fruit is nearly all killed, wheat
and oats are severely damaged.

Why Suffer from Rheumatism?
Why suffer from rheumatism when one
application of Chamberlain's Pain Balm
will relieve the pain? The quick relief
which this liniment affords makes rest and
sleep possible, and that alone is worth
m9ny times its cost Many who have
used it hoping only for a short relief from
suffering have been happily surprised to
find that after awhile the relief became
permanent. Mrs. Y. H. Leggett. of Yum
Yum, Tennessee, U. S. A., writes: "I am
a great sufferer from rheumatism, all over
from head to foot, and Chamberlain's Pain
Balm is the only thing that will relieve the
pain." For sale by The Kaufmann Drug

Now, just listen to a resolution
passed at a regular meeting of the
Medical society of Columbia: "3rd,
That this society considers it unethical
the appearance of a practitioner's
name in connection with any case
published as a news item. That any
physician whose name so appears will
be suspected of being guilty of the
indecorum of advertising. That the
press of the city be requested in the
report of cases to withhold the name
of the attending physician until his
consent has been obtained." As a
fitting climax to this resolution the
Legislature should pass a law at its
next session compelling the physisiciaD,
when be loses a case, to walk
in front of the hearst wearing a placard
bearing the inscription: UI attended
the extremely unfortunate
deceased in his last illness."
Reason of His Objection.
There was a merry company in the
smoking compartment of the Pullman
sleeper on the Lowing Herd
Limited the other evening. A ministerial
looking citizen entered the
compartment and was about to take
a drink of the water from the oooler
when he paused suddenly, turned to
the festive company, and demanded:
"What man has had the audacity
to drink whiskey out of this glass ?"
"I did," promptly replied a traveling
man who had his share of courage
and bravado.
"Well, where are you concealing
the bottle?"
Ambition Faaea.
A young man who was anxious to
secure a job as a railroad brakeman
wandered into one of the local yards
the other day and came across a
bunch of railroad men who were sitting
in a shanty. He made known
his ambition and one of the men,
who is quite a joker, asked him a
few foolish questions. The youth
answered them and then asked:
"How long before I'll be likely to
get a job?"
"Sit down and wait," said the joker.
"There's ten or fifteen brakemen killed
here every day and you can't tell
how soon we'll need you."
The young man's ambition seemed
to fade, and he remembered that he
had an engagement elsewhere.

"Why Popcorn Pops.
When the graiDS of maize or Indian
corn are gently roasted they
buret with a pop and turn inside
out. They are then known as popcorn.
This popping is due to the evaporation
of the oil contained in the
kernel. Ordinary wheat does not
pop bo readily, because the outer
portion of the kernel is more porous,
and thus permits the escape of the
oil as it evaporates. In the case of
popcorn a great pressure is developed
in the kernel by the confined oil,
which is present in greater quantity,
so that the kernel is suddenly exploded
and reverssd.
A Good Suggestion.
Mr. C. B. Wainwright, of Lemon City,
Fla., has written the manufacturers that
much better results are obtained from the
use of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and
Diarrhoea Remedy in cases of pains in the
stomach, colic and cholera morbus by taking
it in water as hot as can be drank.
That when taken in this way the effect is
double in rapidity. 4'It seems to get at
the right spot instantly," he says. For

The Judge's Course.
The man up for larceny had admitted
his guilt when apprehended, but
at the trial his youthful counsel defended
him with great obstinacy and
unnecessary brilliancy.
"Gentlemen," said the judge, regarding
the jury with a benevolent
smile, "the prisoner says he is guilty.
His counsel says he is not You must
decide between them.'"
Then after an effective pause, the
judge added: "There is one thing
to remember, gentlemen, the prisoner
was there and his counsel wasn't/'
How to Ward Off Old Age.
The most successful way of warding off
the approach of old age is to maintain a
vigorous digestion. This can be done by
eating only food suited to your age and
occupation, and when any disorder of the
stomach appears take a dose of Chamberlain's
Stomach and Liver Tablets to correct
it. If you have a weak stomach or
are troubled with indigestion, you will
find these Tablets to be just what you
need. For sale by The Kaufmann Drug
