by bit or briddle and made
a dash for liberty through the cotton
field of Mr. W. P. Roof, which is
situated between Mr. Clark's house
and the bridge on Twelve Mile creek
iD this place. Mr. Corley finally

Bamberg county and tbe State of
South Carolina this week loses a
citizen which we can illy spare. C.
W. Garris has been to tbe writer a
true friend, and a sense of deep personal
loss is upon us. As a citizen
of this community aDd tbe State he
has always stood for progress aDd
advancement as well as the highest
and best type of citizenship. His

railroad commissioner and law maker
he stood for ice interests of the
whole people, and hie record is one
cf which any man might well be
proud. Hi3 broad statesmanship
and conservative counsel will be
sorely missed in this community,
where he was 3 potent factor in
social, political, and industrial circles.
To Bspair Coagaree Bridge.
County Supervisor Louie J. Langford,
went down and examined the
bridge over Congaree creek and
found out that it would be cheaper
to repair the old bridge rather than
build a new one so he concluded to
let Yandy Spires do the repairing
with the understanding that the
county was to assume no ri6k by accident
or otherwise until the bridge
was accepted by the Board.
