He is a faithful and earnest minister of Christ and rightly divides the bread of life so that his hearers feel that it is good for them that he is their guide and eomforter in their spiritual affairs. He is deservedly popular with his people and his friends. There is now a depot there as well as a telegraph and express office. Mr. D. A. Oar next place was at Ballentine where we were kindly and hospitably entertained by oar friend, Rev. S. J. E ddie, who is a devout Christian, a true man and a warm friend. Oar stay with him and his excellent family was pleasantly spent. He is well informed on the leading questions of the day and has very sound views concerning the same. At Irmo we met not only a tremeadous crowd of taxpayers, bat a cold wave accompanied by sleet and disagreeable weather. Last year we were almost ice bound and water 1 igged at this place, but managed to get through "right side up with care," but by the skia of our teeth. Having contracted a very bad cold, we concluded that to run "was the better part of valor " We took th9 10:30 traio for Columbia and thence home, leaving the Auditor to make the trip overland.
