He was born and reared about three miles from this town and at one time represented Lexington county in the legislature. Dr. Lowman moved to Orangeburg over twenty years ago and at once began to take an activC'parfc in every movement for the advancement of the town. He leaves a wife, t*o sons and four daughters to mourn his loss. He has one sister, Mrs. Dr. J. K. Kneece, residing near this town. Some of his relatives in this town attended the funeral earvices at Orangebarg the following Tuesday. The Batesburg Telephone Company was organized about four months ago with a capital stock of $500 for the pat pose of building a telephone line from this town to Steadman. It was decided a few d?ve ago to increase the stock to $2,000 and extend the line to Delmar and Mt. Williog. The line from Steadman to Batesburg will be completed in a few days. Dr. W. H. Young Lawman, about 12 years old, is the son of Mr. Levi Lawman and the little boy killed, wbo is even younger, was the son of Mr. Henry Harman. The latter with bis wife, were at Lexington when the accident occurred. The thing has cast a gloom over the whole community. Sunday, being the fifth Sunday, ther* will, D.
