returned from a week's hunt id Colleton
county Sunday. Tbey brought
back as trophies of their week's sport,
a number of ducks a dear and other
game. The Editor returns his thanks
for kind remembrances. The venison
was very fine.
All the churches in the place will
unite and hold Thanksgiving services
in St. Stephen Lutheran church,
tomorrow ?t 11 o'clock. Rev. Mr.

Rountree, of the Methodi*t church,
will deliver the sermon. Everybody
is cordially invited to attend.
From this date the South Carolina
Cotton Oil Ginnery, of Columbia,
will run only on Tuesdays, Thursdays
and Saturdays. ' Seed cotton
brought on other days may be stored
in our cotton bouse until ginning

The Saxe Gotba school, Irene, S.
C., will observe Thanksgiving with
appropriate exercises. The program
consists of songs, recitations, dialogues
and an address by Rev. C A.
Freed, of Columbia. The exercises
will begin promptly at 8 p. m. A
cordial invitation is extended to all.
Mr and Mrs. W. P. Roof left for
Tampa, Florida last week. Mrs.
Roof has been in delicate health for
sometime and it was thought that a
trip to Florida would be beneficial to
her. We trust that when she returns
she will be restored to perfect health.

Turpentine Still Caught Fire.
Last Friday afternoon the turpentine
still of Rev. W. D. Q lick, near
the Lexington Lumber MVg. Co,
came near being destroyed by fire.
A charge was being boiled when the
roeeo became too hot blowing the
cap off The flames leaped up sitting
fire to the shed. Fortunately Rev.
Quick replaced the cap as quickly as
possible shutting cff the ihroes and
the fire on the sued was boon estin
guiebed. JUittie or do damage was
done.

Mrs. Wilson Dead.
The many friends of Mrs. Cathrine
Willsou was pained to receive the
announcement of her death which occurred
in Columbia Monday afternoon.
She was b.ra in this place on
April 16.h 1828 and was a sister of
the late M-jor H. A Meetzo and for
a long time resided in the old home
of Mr. G. M. Herman, on Depot street.
The 'funeral services was held at
Ebenezar Lutheran church by the
Rsv. C. A. Freed. The interment
was Eimwocd.
