To the Editor of the Dispatch:
Our rains seem to have been very
partial last week. Unci* Jake said
the water just poored off one side of
his diwelliug, while on the other side
it did rot more than drop.
Mr. B. B. Hiller has two more
new ca?e3 of measles in his family
this week.
Aunt Betsy Balleotine, mother of
Mr W. J. Balleutine, was buried at
the family burying ground, Sunday
evening at 5 o'clock. She was eightytwo
years old.
We are expecting to see a little
Texas bay bob up this week for
Legislative honors.
About tbe time this issue is published,
Mr. Editor, tbe time for filing
pledges will close. Fifty-four candidates
for eighteen cffices, including
the Magistrates offices. Thirty-six
of whom no doubt will be slightly
wouDded in the feet, after the first
primary. Your surgeons, however,
may be encouraging, as they may
predict that you will be in first class
running trim by the time of the next
handicap. You may send up your
caids expressing your deepest appreciation
of the good will of all those
who po gfne-ously backed you in the
race just closed and ycu may say
too, to assure them that you intend
to undertake such a course of training
aa will convince.
Those who bet on a ball headed nag,
And those who bet on a grey,
That they'll simply be having a frolicsome
jag,
And flinging their money away.
Now in order to get even with the
winners in the last race that dark
looking bay will join in with you
defeated beys aud make hay, and
we are willing to pull either "under
the saddle" cr at the "eff wheel" and
possibly the whole spike team, to
hall them fodder ?Dd hay for a season
or two. Good luck to you all is our
wish. B B. H.
Will Not Be a Candidate.

various sections of the county, to say
to them, that owing to the increased
value of my business and pressing
professional engagements at present,
I will nob ba a candidate for Stats
Senator. I highly appreciate the
kind expressions and confidence you
repoee in me and will say to you that
ycu shall hear from me later.
I congratulate myse'f on beiDg at
peace and good will with the voters
of my county, aDd Mr. Editor, we
will be pleased to share our hospitality
with you aDd ail the candidates
during this campaign.
